Manchester Utd vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England FA Cup
Saturday 21st April 2018
Kick off at 5:15pm BST
Venue: Wembley Stadium

Match Preview:

Does an FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Tottenham get more mouthwatering than this? It’s rock or bust for both clubs as the FA Cup is the only piece of silverware left for two teams that have performed well this season. But who will it be who reaches the final.

For some Manchester United have been underwhelming football this season, however it could be that their rivals Manchester City have just been too good and in a normal season United would be in first position with the points they have. There has definitely been some friction between manager Jose Mourinho and his players but it was reported this week that talks had taken place after their shock 1-0 loss to West Brom. At least they were able to bounce back and beat Bournemouth on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham have been strong again this season and indeed for the past two but they have nothing to show for it trophy wise and manager Mauricio Pochettino does have those pressures constantly with him to bring some silverware back to the club. The club has wobbled recently with a loss to Manchester City and then could only find a draw against Brighton. Tottenham will in effect be playing this semi-final at home and they have had an extra days rest than United.

Manchester Utd vs Tottenham Prediction:

Both sides are well equipped to beat the other but we will go for Mourinho and United to get the win. Clear the air talks were held this week and Mourinho’s teams in the past have always been better when labelled as underdogs or with pressure mounted on them. Because this game has the potential to go 120 minutes we should forget the win market at 90 minute’s as it offers no value to us.
