Man Utd vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 29th December 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

It’s incredible to think that Manchester United have only won twice at home so far, but let’s forget about their overall home form for now, which is easy to do when we look at their last game played at Old Trafford, which was a 6-2 thrashing of Leeds.

Leeds played into United’s hands and the goals reigned down but in truth Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s teams have been scoring plenty of goals and are in form coming into this clash. In the league Manchester United haven’t lost since November 1st when Arsenal beat them here and have climbed up to 4th place. They are just 5 points behind Liverpool.

Last weekend United drew 2-2 against top 4 rivals Leicester, though it felt disappointing given that the Red Devils were winning that match. There has been an overall good feeling at the club especially in the last month and that was multiplied when they reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup last week. United beat Everton 2-0 and will now face rivals Manchester City next month for a place in the final.

Wolves remain a good side at home but suspect when away. They followed up a 2-1 defeat at Burnley by playing well against Tottenham at home and forcing a 1-1 draw in the end, coming back in that match. It hasn’t been a great period for the club though who have earned just 4 points from their last 15 available.

Nuno Espirito Santos’ team are down to 11th and even a win would only likely put them one place up. Away from home Wolves have lost three of their last four games and have only scored six goals on the road.

Team News:

Manchester United: Victor Lindelof has a back injury and is only 50/50 to make this game. Marcus Rashford has a slight shoulder injury and will have to be assessed. Aaron Wan Bissaka is being pencilled in to return for this match after his knock.

Wolves: Willy Boly and Leander Dendoncker both have knocks and will be assessed ahead of the encounter.

Man Utd vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this match finished 0-0.

3 of the last four league meetings have ended in draws.

Wolves haven’t won at Manchester United since 1980.

Man Utd vs Wolves Prediction:

A home win for Manchester United here looks like the only right result if we are choosing. United are in good form but more than that, there is a good spirit at the club, and plenty of goals.

Wolves look great one week and the next very average and they aren’t the strongest away from home coupled with the fact that they have an horrific record here we really only see the home win.

Bruno Fernandes will be a danger once more and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season, he should be chosen to score again.
