Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
Manchester United have picked a bad moment to start losing games and they come into this game having lost their last two. This has let Liverpool in and they can now challenge for a top four place. The good news for Erik ten Hag’s side was that Arsenal beat 3rd placed Newcastle and we now have what should be a very exciting top four run in. This has been whittled down to Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool and one club is going to end up being very disappointed.
Manchester United’s two recent losses have come against Brighton and West Ham, both games ending 1-0 and both were away from home so in that respect the club will relish being back at home. United would go into 3rd place if they win and Newcastle were to lose but they could well end up after this weekend in 5th place so there really is all to play for. The good news is that Ten Hag’s side have remained a difficult team to beat at home with a good return of 12 games won from 16 and just one defeat so far and they have won their last 3 games at home with their last one being a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Wolves are safe with 40 points and can relax in this game. They looked safe before but their recent 1-0 win over Aston Villa has confirmed that. Wolves are in 13th and a strong finish to the season could see them finish as high as 11th but this campaign after a slow start was all about survival and that has been reached, so this campaign has ended up being a success of sorts. Recent form is a mixed bag of win loss win loss and if that was to continue they would lose this game. Away from home Wolves have been poor with just two wins so far and just 1 point gained from their last 15.
Team News:
Manchester United: Scott McTominay has a knock and while he could be assessed he isn’t due to return until next week. Marcus Rashford has a leg injury and is a big doubt to make this game. Tom Heaton and Lisandro Martinez are out for the season.
Wolves: There are no new injuries for the club both Chiquinho and Sasa Kalajdzic are out for the season and long term injuries, both with knee injuries.
Man Utd vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season Wolves won this fixture 1-0.
Manchester United have won 4 of the last five meetings.
The last three meetings in a row have all seen under 1.5 goals.
Man Utd vs Wolves Prediction:
Not only do we expect to see a good solid Manchester United victory but we think they could also score a few goals. United are playing for their Champions League hopes and they are a club so established in the competition that it is a disaster for them not to be competing at the highest level. Wolves simply would struggle away to United normally even though of course they did win here last season. A lot has changed since then though and they have nothing to play for here.
Marcus Rashford looks like he will miss out and that is an obvious blow for United but they have plenty of goalscorers in their side where they can also get goals for midfield and that means excellent value for us. We can’t see past a good home win at the weekend.
Man Utd vs Wolves Betting Tips:
