Match Preview:
What a difference a week can make in football. After the fall out and suspension of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the ground before full time, he came back into the team and in midweek scored a goal in the Europa League as Manchester United beat Sheriff 3-0. Manager Erik ten Hag was all praise for Ronaldo and perhaps in a matter of days peace has been found between the pair, it will only help United to kick on their season and you get the sense the club will come into this game in good spirits.
United are unbeaten in their last 4 games and their last home game finished in a 2-0 victory over Tottenham. Last weekend they held Chelsea to a 1-1 result and over the past month there is no denying that the players are responding to Ten Hag and have improved vastly. The club come into this weekend in 6th place and are 8 points behind Arsenal, that’s not bad going given their slow start. At home it’s 3 games won from five and just one defeat and that happened in their first home game of the season and so they have gone almost 3 months undefeated at home.
West Ham could move to within 3 points of their hosts with victory here. Form has been decent with 10 points won from their last 15, but the club have struggled with consistency in the league. That is not the same case in the Europa Conference League which David Moyes side has sailed through and they have easily reached the knock out stages. Last weekend the Hammers were able to beat Bournemouth 2-0, however the clubs problems lie away from home. Just four points have been won on the road from a possible 18 with just one win so far which came back in August against Aston Villa, the clubs last away game ended in defeat against Liverpool and they have lost 3 of their last four trips.

Maxwell Cornet is only 50/50 to make this one after his calf injury and could be assessed. Craig Dawson is also 50/50 after suffering a dead leg a few weeks ago and remains a doubt. Lucas Paqueta is out with a shoulder injury.

Man Utd vs West Ham Prediction:
There is a gulf in quality between these sides even if over the past few seasons that hasn’t been apparent and Manchester United are a decent price if odds on to win this game. There just seems to be a solidarity with the club and manager now going forward and United being at home they should have little trouble to get all 3 points. David Moyes has an appalling record in away games to the so called big 6 clubs in the Premier League and that could be set to continue at the weekend.
West Ham have been working hard after a slow start but they are in that form where they can beat teams around them, which is good but perhaps have not reached that level to start beating the very best clubs in the league. We can’t see past a win here for the home side and they have the quality to get a few goals too. The Hammers won’t disappoint though and they always raise their game for these occasions, but they will most probably get outclassed in the end.
