England Premier League
Wednesday 22nd July 2020
Kick off at 6pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
West Ham have showed a lot of fight especially against the stronger sides but this match will be very tricky for the Londoners. Of course it represents the chance for David Moyes to get a little revenge over his ex employers but they could well be out of their depth soon after the first whistle signals, that’s how devastating United have been lately at home.
Other than their FA Cup semi final loss to Chelsea at the weekend, where they were completely outplayed, Manchester United are winning games and scoring goals, and at the forefront of their fantastic revival has been Bruno Fernandes. At home they keep winning games and have lost just a couple this season, and based on 5 match home form they are averaging 3 goals per game. The way the club have been playing has to please the fans, though its hard to get reactions when no fans are allowed to be present at the moment.
West Ham have had a poor season even if they are likely to avoid the drop, and winning a few games near the end of the campaign cannot mask that. Form is good for the Hammers though, with 3 wins in their last 5 games, but only around 40% of their total points have come away from home. They do raise their game against the stronger sides, though this is usually at home and this match could be beyond he club.
In terms of motivation at this stage of the season, the edge has to be with Man Utd, fighting for a Champions League spot, where as West Ham are pretty much safe from relegation now.
Team News:
Manchester United: Luke Shaw is doubtful with an ankle injury. No new injury concerns.
West Ham: Robert Snodgrass is still doubtful for this game.
Man Utd vs West Ham Head to Head:
Earlier in the season West Ham won this fixture at home 2-0.
Last season in this fixture Manchester United won 2-1.
West Ham have not won at Old Trafford in the league since 2007.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
In Manchester United’s last two home games against West Ham Paul Pogba has scored 3 goals.
Man Utd vs West Ham Prediction:
We think Manchester United will overwhelm West Ham here and that is no disrespect to the Londoners because some of the play seen by United this month they could well turn over many clubs in Europe. They have been on fire for the most part and with this being their final game at Old Trafford they will want to go out on a high. On top of that, Man Utd can't afford to drop points here with a Champions League place at stake. United look set to ease to victory here and only a brave person would back them not too.
