Man Utd vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 14th March 2021
Kick off at 7:15pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Manchester United could be 17 points behind league leaders Manchester City coming into this game albeit with 2 games in hand, but let’s face it the league title looks wrapped up and should go to City. United are more concentrated on finishing 2nd and trying to win the Europa League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are in 2nd and just 1 point above Leicester and Chelsea are only 4 points behind too. If there is a push by Tottenham, Everton and today’s opponents then a top 4 finish isn’t guaranteed for United so this is a must win game.

The Red Devils have had a lot of success over West Ham in the past and will come into this game as the odds on favourites. Though of course they had to play in midweek and their Europa League hopes took a dent as they could only draw 1-1 with AC Milan at Old Trafford.

West Ham have been the surprise team of the season so far and have only lost two games in their last 10. The Hammers are in 5th place and just six points behind their hosts, with a game in hand. Form has been good with 3 wins from their last four and last weekend David Moyes side were able to beat Leeds 2-0.

Away from home the Hammers have the 8th best record in the league and have won six games so far, though they have failed to win their last two.

Team News:

Manchester United: Edinson Cavani is a major doubt with a knock which forced him to miss the game in midweek. David De Gea has returned from Spain after the birth of his child but it is unsure after quarantine if he will be allowed to play. Juan Mata and Paul Pogba are out and Anthony Martial is only 50/50 after a slight hip injury. Marcus Rashford is only 50/50 after his ankle injury and will be assessed.

West Ham: Ryan Fredericks is only 50/50 after his groin injury. An update on Angelo Ogbonna suggest the player will not be back until April with his ankle injury.

Man Utd vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

Earlier in the season Manchester United won 3-1.

West Ham have not won at Manchester United in the league since 2007.

Man Utd vs West Ham Prediction:

Manchester United are the favourites and should have enough to win this game and will be the odds on favourites. But some key players could be missing for them and you should check the final team line ups. As it stands and with the way West Ham have been playing the Hammers may fancy walking away from this game with a point. For us, if Man Utd put out a strong team, then we feel they will have enough to get the 3 points.

United are not losing games but take out the Manchester City victory and they have been dropping too many points with many draws. This match should be a home win but it isn’t as cut and dry as that and that explains the good value for the home win. So make sure to check the lineups first. If key players are rested or missing, bet with caution.
