Man Utd vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 23rd February 2020
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Last week was so important for Manchester United and they went to Stamford Bridge and beat Chelsea 2-0. Now they are contenders for a top 4 spot and they can keep their momentum up by winning this game.

United will of course be the favourites to do so at home but overall form has been mixed. The club have lost 2 of their last 4 games and at home they haven’t won in two matches going back to mid January when they beat Norwich.

The Red Devils are in 7th place with 38 points and just three points behind Chelsea and a win here could move them up one or two places depending on other results.

Watford are in 19th place and after fantastic form for their first 6 weeks when Nigel Pearson took over, they seem to have lost their way. They have no wins in their last four but at the same time are just one point from being safe, however it is so close down there with so many teams bunched up that a lot can change in the space of a few weeks.

The Hornets have only won 2 games away from home all season, they have scored in their last four away games however.

Team News:

Manchester United: Mason Greenwood has an illness and is a doubt for the game. Scott McTominay could return for this game after his knee injury. Marcus Rashford is a long term absentee.

Watford: Femenia could make a comeback for this game after his hamstring injury. Ismaila Sarr is being tipped to come back also for this game.

Man Utd vs Watford Head to Head:

Last season Manchester United won this fixture 2-1.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Watford won 2-0.

From the last 6 meetings, Manchester United have won 5.

Man Utd vs Watford Prediction:

We think that Manchester United can dominate this game from start to finish and the Chelsea win would have given the club a positive spring in their step. They need to show their authority more in these types of games. The club are around 1.60 to win and considering they are against a Watford side with just 2 wins and 11 goals away from home all season, that seems pretty good value to us.

Anthony Martial is worth picking to score anytime. With some key injuries in the squad including Marcus Rashford, Martial has been asked to step up and his manager has said that he can get 20 goals this season, which is positive encouragement for him that will make him feel good and focused to play well.

Man Utd vs Watford Betting Tips:

Manchester United to beat Watford at 1.60

Anytime goalscorer: Anthony Martial at 1.72
