England Premier League
Saturday 11th January 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
It is looking clearer that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will survive the season. His side have been punching below their weight but at the same time are capable of putting some good wins together and he is a man floating just above the surface.
United need to win at the weekend though as they host Norwich at Old Trafford and anything less would be seen as extreme disappointment. They were poor in losing 2-0 to Arsenal in their last game but some recent good form has pointed to the potential of the club and they are in 5th place, just five points behind Chelsea and a Champions League position.
At home United have been quite strong losing just one game so far and have won 50% of their matches. Their last home game ended in a brilliant 4-1 mauling of Newcastle.
Norwich’s survival is now in the balance and they are bottom of the league with 14 points. They are now 7 points from safety, although can still pick up points. The club have drawn 3 of their last five matches including a 2-2 battle with Tottenham. However they have really suffered on the road winning just 1 game and they have lost 70% of their matches. They have scored just 5 goals on the road this season.
Team News:
Manchester United : Paul Pogba is back out injured with his ankle and will miss the next 3-4 weeks. Scott McTominay’s knee injury is worse than first thought and he could miss the next 2 months. Luke Shaw should be back after missing the cup match against Wolves because of illness.
Norwich: Teemu Pukki has a hamstring injury and remains a doubt for this game. The Canaries also have six other longer term injuries.
Man Utd vs Norwich Head to Head:
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Manchester United won 3-1.
The teams have not played at Old Trafford since 2015 when Norwich won 2-1.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Man Utd vs Norwich Prediction:
Manchester United do have some key injuries but with quality like Marcus Rashford and the pace of Daniel James one would expect at Old Trafford they would be too much for Norwich. United have let down punters many times over the last few seasons but this match feels like a crunch game, and drop points here against the bottom side at home and the club could be kissing goodbye to any hopes of a top 4 finish. Also this is the weekend where United feel they could move clear of Tottenham who have to play Liverpool. What other motivation do they need, and this should be a home win. Odds on the home win are very short though at 1.35 so we will take the -1 asian handicap on them to increase the odds at no extra risk.
Man Utd vs Norwich Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Manchester United) at 1.52
Anytime goalscorer: Marcus Rashford at 1.83
