Man Utd vs Leicester: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 19th February 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Manchester City’s victory over Arsenal in midweek was actually very significant for their rivals Manchester United as it means that Arsenal have been roped right back into it and United come into this weekend only 5 points behind the Gunners and City. Maybe nobody at the club is mentioning it but one has to wonder if they have a chance for a title shout?

United are in good form too with no defeats in their last three games and their last game ended in a 2-0 win over Leeds. However the clubs last home game was a 2-2 draw with the same team, though they had been 2-0 down. At home United have the third best record in the league and have amassed an impressive 26 points from 33, there has been just one defeat with an 85% win rate here and although the last game ended in a draw they did win their previous 4.

Leicester are in 13th place and have been written off a few times this season but just when you think they are hitting a terrible run they find form and they have gone 3 games unbeaten. This includes winning their last 2 games which have come against Aston Villa and Tottenham and in stunning fashion scoring 4 goals each in those games. It is fair to say that the Foxes come into this one in good spirits.

With victory Leicester would go past Crystal Palace if Palace also drop points and they could be 9 points from the bottom three and start to think that surviving this season is a given.

Team News:

Manchester United: Casemiro is still serving his 3 game suspension for his red card. An update on Antony suggests he is missing for another two weeks due to his leg injury. Anthony Martial is out with his hip for a few weeks, Christian Eriksen looks set to be out until April with his ankle and Scott McTominay will probably miss out with a knock.

Leicester: Ryan Bertrand has recovered from injury but looks set to miss out due to fitness issues. Sammy Braybrook and Jonny Evans are out long term due to knee and thigh injuries respectively.

Man Utd vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished in a 1-1 draw.

In the last 6 meetings Manchester United has only won 1 game.

5 of the last six meetings has seen both teams to score.

Man Utd vs Leicester Prediction:

Manchester United have a poor recent record over Leicester and it has to be said that the Foxes have really found their form again and Brendan Rodgers style of play really suits his team to play United. We think we are in for a very entertaining game of football that could well have it all. So go for the goals market, especially as there is a high percentage chance in the past to see both teams to score.

Ultimately though with the way their form has been and how solid they have been at home we can’t look past Erik ten Hag’s side to get the win here. Certain players like Marcus Rashford are finding the best form of their careers and really living up to their early promise, and we will certainly to suggest to back him yet again. United are odds on but there is still some value to be taken with them given their record at home this season as they try to maintain their chase with the top two.
