Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will be delighted that their first game of the season will be at home and now in front of a returning crowd and that should create quite an atmosphere. There is a very good rivalry between these two clubs and like last season we expect the home side to score early and for this one to be a very open game of football.

Manchester United have been limited in playing pre-season games but one of note was last week when, at this ground, they crushed Premier League rivals Everton 4-0 and that felt like statement win. United have not lost any of their quality players and their most significant deal in the summer came when they acquired Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Leeds will be the underdogs to get anything here but at the same time they were great last season and really entertained and they are a team who like to play attacking football no matter who the opponent is. Leeds finished 9th last season which was a great achievement by them, and they will want to either maintain that or improve a little as they try to become a Premier League staple side once again.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have spent £25m and secured the services of Jack Harrison from Manchester City and also Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

Team News: 

Manchester United: Marcus Rashford has a shoulder injury and could miss the next 3 months though there will be updates the England international will certainly miss the bulk of the beginning of the season. Alex Telles has an ankle injury and could miss the first 3 weeks of the season at least.

Leeds United: Diego Llorente is out for at least two weeks with a knock.

Manchester United will be raring to go and with fans back they will be the odds on favourites to win this game. Here is a side that were able to score 6 goals past Leeds last season and now United will want to go one step further this season and perhaps challenge for the league title, there does seem to be quite a buzz at the club presently.

United are full of goalscorers from Bruno Fernandes in midfield to the likes of Edison Cavani up front and even Harry Maguire in defence can score goals from corners. You get the feeling that the Red Devils will set up to attack from the start and make like very difficult for Leeds.

As for the away side we know that they will play attack no matter the opponent and that will make this game entertaining. Leeds impressed coming back into the Premier League last season but we have seen many times that Championship sides can get judged on their second season where it starts to become much harder to compete. Leeds will probably lose this game but are sure to try and go down fighting. The home side are big odds on so it might be worth looking into different markets.
