Man Utd vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 8th December 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Again Manchester United didn’t lose in the week but again they didn’t win either and the famous club seem to be entering a Jose Mourinho final phase out where the tactician becomes afraid to lose games. The match against Arsenal was evident of this, because of Arsenal’s great form compared to United. The players look worried but were able to come back twice to salvage a 2-2 draw. That’s the second 2-2 draw in a row for the Red Devils following their game last weekend.

United are having a poor season there is no question about that and have now fallen 18 points behind league leaders Manchester City and we are not even at the half way point. Whilst they have lost just 1 game at home all season because of their constant draws they only have the 9th best home record in the league. And whilst they have scored 24 goals, they have conceded 25 so the club aren’t even playing like a ‘typical’ Mourinho 1-0 side. Where will it all end?

Fulham have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 1 since Claudio Ranieri took charge and their last game ended in a 1-1 draw with Leicester. The good news for the Cottagers is that since Ranieri’s arrival they have won 4 points, when he arrived they had only 5 points for the season.

But the catch for the club is that they have not won a game away and have the worse away record in the league with just 1 point won from the past 24.

Team News:

Manchester United: Lindelof is out with a muscle problem. Anthony Martial could be a doubt with a suspected hamstring, but it may just be a slight knock, he will be assessed ahead of the match. Alexis Sanchez is out for the rest of the year with a hamstring injury

Fulham: The Cottagers have no major injuries coming into the game but Timothy Fosu-Mensah is ineligible to play against his parent club

Man Utd vs Fulham Head to Head:

Man Utd vs Fulham Prediction:

Let’s be blunt about this game. If Manchester United lose it is very likely that Jose Mourinho will lose his job. The media which thought this could happen in September have been quiet about this. But let’s look at the evidence we have on the table. United are not only 18 points behind 1st place but 8 points behind a required top 4 finish. They are about to play a team who have no wins away from home and are coming to Old Trafford. Make no mistakes this will be like a final for the club and even if they draw the question of Mourinho staying has to be in the balance.

Whilst we fancy United to win the game the odds of 1.30 are too risky, they simply have rarely turned up for a game even against ones where we would believe they would win easily. Again we will take the option and dream that United finally use the best of their quality and get a result here, but they have become a club under Mourinho where any betting person would not want to waste too much capital on.
