Match Preview:
Manchester United got their top four hopes back on track in midweek as they won their first game since February 19th with a 1-0 victory over Brentford. In the end the scoreline was close but United deserved the three points and dominated the game. Marcus Rashford who had been quiet of late got the only goal and that would have done him the world of good to get back to scoring again.
United will be the odds on favourites to win this game but they will understand that they won’t be able to take Everton lightly. Recent form has not been good for Erik ten Hag’s side with just 4 points earned from their last 12 but they are in 4th place with 53 points and are three points ahead of 5th placed Tottenham and have a game in hand. It is at home where Ten Hag’s team have really shone though and that should come as no surprise with just 1 defeat here all season and 10 wins from 14 played. The only critcism is that they are not scoring enough goals at home for a Mancheser United site, with 25 so far. Arsenal and Manchester City are in the 40s and for example Brentford have scored 3 more at home, so that is something the team need to be looking at going forward.
Everton celebrated their 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Monday evening as if they had won the game, this was due in part because they were heading for a defeat but Michael Keane’s screaming shot in the 90th minute made sure that Everton earned a vital point. The Toffees come into the weekend in 16th place with 27 points but only goal difference seperates them from being in the bottom three. Form has been better from Everton although it depends how you look at it. On one hand Sean Dyche’s team have gone their last 4 games unbeaten although three of those have ended in draws. On the road is where the real worries lie with just one win so far and seven defeats however there have been 6 draws and that includes drawing their last two which have come against Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.
Team News:
Manchester United: Casemiro is suspended and won’t be able to return until next weekend. Christian Eriksen could be assessed as he has fitness worries. Alejandro Garnacho is out with an ankle injury, Luke Shaw has a hamstring injury although he will have to assessed to know how serious it is but he has to be considered a doubt for this game. Tom Heaton won’t be available until at least next weekend due to an ankle injury.
Everton: Abdoulaye Doucoure is suspended for 3 games for his red card against Tottenham and misses out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be assessed due to a lack of match fitness, Andros Townsend remains sidelined with fitness issues.
Man Utd vs Everton Head to Head:
The teams met here only in January in the FA Cup with Manchester United winning 3-1.
Last season this fixture finished 1-1.
Everton haven’t won away to Manchester United for almost 10 years.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
Man Utd vs Everton Prediction:
Manchester United will be expected to win this game but recent league games between the two have been very close. In six of the last seven league matches just one goal has been the difference usually in United’s favour but given the quality of player and the different budgets between the two sides in general Everton have held their own. Last season Everton were unlucky not to win this fixture and they will raise their game but also be a physical presence so much so that United will struggle if they turn up here playing with their recent form.
However Everton’s overall away form is a concern with just one win so far so the sensible option is to back the home side. As for goalscorers we expect this game to be low scoring however Marcus Rashford will be a danger throughout and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was able to find the back of the net once again.
Man Utd vs Everton Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Man Utd) at 1.81
Anytime goalscorer: Marcus Rashford at 2.10
