Man Utd vs Crystal Palace: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th September 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Erik ten Hag has been feeling the pressure of late but back to back defeats were followed up last weekend with a narrow 1-0 win away to Burnley. United have now climbed up to 9th place and have 9 points and while they have been underwhelming so far Ten Hag will understand that he does have quality in the side and if his team clicks they can go on a good run.

In midweek there was more joy as Manchester United beat… Crystal Palace, their opponents for this weekend but in the EFL Cup. The win was a 3-0 comprehensive result and the fans will be hoping for much of the same again. At home United have already lost this season which was in their last home league game as they were beaten 3-1 by Brighton.

Crystal Palace of course are fresh from being knocked out of the EFL Cup by United and so some avenging is on the cards. They can take hope from the fact that United are not firing as they would like but having just lost 3-0 to them Palace will be weary. The Eagles are only a point behind their hosts so there will be motivation to go past them here but it’s been a real mixed bag of results recently for Roy Hodgson’s side. This has led to Palace winning just one game from their past five and in their last game they drew 0-0 with Fulham at home. Goals have been a problem for Palace though with just 6 scored so far and the clubs last away game ended in a 3-1 loss against Aston Villa.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

Manchester United have been fairly spectacular in their disappointments already this season but like last season under Ten Hag it took a month or so to get going and we think that there could be a recovery round the corner. That doesn’t mean that when they face quality away from home United will start winning games but they have just dealt with Palace and even with some new faces for the visitors we think the Red Devils will have enough in the tank to win this game.

Crystal Palace will know the lay of the land and would have stayed up in Manchester this week and this is about learning from mistakes just a few days ago but even an off United at home can be dangerous with plenty of attacking options and this game could be a case of much the same as in midweek.
