Man Utd vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 24th November 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Despite pulling out some decent results over the past month Manchester United are on course to have an underwhelming season. A quick glance at the Red Devils league position sees the club in 8th place and 12 points behind the league leaders Manchester City. In terms of league performance nothing seems to have changed since Sir Alex Ferguson retired 5 years ago. Even 4th place looks distant with seven points separating the club from Tottenham.

Still manager Jose Mourinho will believe that all is not lost, but it is games like this one at the weekend at Old Trafford that must be won. United come here on the back of a 3-1 loss against rivals City but at the same time that was their first defeat in a month and on form United would be in the top six. At home United have gone their last 3 games unbeaten which is an encouraging sign.

Crystal Palace are 16th and are looking like being one of the teams who will suffer a relegation battle this season. A few weeks ago after pulling out a 2-2 draw against Arsenal there was a feeling that the Eagles would kick on from that but alas it hasn’t happened and they went on to lose their next two matches.

Roy Hodgson’s team have however had to deal with some very tough fixtures of late - Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and now away to Manchester United. But the only reason Palace don’t come into this game in the bottom three is because of goal difference. They have lost their last 3 games in a row away from home.

Team News:

Manchester United: The Red Devils have some alarmingly genuine concerns. Paul Pogba missed the Manchester derby and international games with a thigh injury, Anthony Martial is suffering from the same problem. Romelu Lukaku has a hamstring injury. Marcus Rashford suffered a knock whilst playing for England. All of the players mentioned will be however assessed before the game and there is a chance that some could be deemed fit to play. Luke Shaw is out with a 1 game suspension after picking up 5 yellow cards

Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha is hopeful to play this game after picking up a hamstring injury earlier in the month. Scott Dann looks set to miss again due to a lack of match fitness. Mamadou Sakho will be assessed after picking up a back injury for France on international duty. James Tomkins is set to return after a minor knock.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

As expected United are odds on to win the game but perhaps it is more fruitful for us to get better value from this game and have Mourinho’s team winning by half time. They have been so average this season that the bet remains a risk but it’s still possible to get this at even prices, at one point surely United will put in a commanding performance? It may be worth selecting out of sorts Alexis Sanchez to get on the scoresheet with some of the injuries United have, even if the regulars play Mourinho may opt to use Sanchez as they will be a little rusty. United have to win this game, anything other than three points and the intense pressure of September returns.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:

Half Time Result: Manchester United to be winning at 2.00

Antime goalscorer: Alexis Sanchez at 2.50
