England Premier League

Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
It was against Cardiff that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started his managerial career at Manchester United where the club won 5-1 and a new era seemed to be emerging at the famous club. Solskjaer had walked in with a smile wider than the city of Manchester, had embraced the players often critisised and rejected by outgoing manager Jose Mourinho and had brought not only a good feeling back to the club but an attacking one on the pitch. Then he criticised some of the teams displays and signed a 3 year contract and the rest as they say is history.
On form United would be 13th in the league and their recent matches means that they have missed out on a top 4 place and will not play Champions League football next season. For all of Mourinho’s problems, one could say that maybe the biggest problems lie at the feet of the players on the pitch, and one could say that the club have taken a step back. But perhaps they need to in order to go forward? Perhaps.
The match against Huddersfield the bottom club of the league confirmed United’s decline with that ending 1-1 despite Huddersfield having lost 28 games this season and they were losing that game. United could finish 5th if they win and Arsenal lose or draw this weekend but all in all this has been a poor season for the club with the briefest of rollercoaster rides that gave the club some hope.
Cardiff are finally down after a testing and poor season. They lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace last week which sealed their fate and this could be Neil Warnock’s last game in charge of the club and perhaps his last game as a manager full stop.
The Bluebirds come into this game having lost their last 3 in a row and will be underdogs to get anything here even if United have their own crisis going on. Cardiff have lost 4 of their last 5 games away from home.
Team News:
Manchester United: Jesse Lingard could return after his knee injury and will be assessed. It was first thought that Romelu Lukaku could miss the last 2 games for United but he is being quoted at 50/50 to make this game after his hamstring injury. Alexis Sanchez will be assessed after injuring his ankle in the Huddersfield game. Valencia could finally return for the final game of the season after his knock back at the end of March
Cardiff: Victor Camarasa will be assessed after he picked up a minor hip injury, he is the only new concern coming into this game
