Man Utd vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 29th January 2019
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford

Match Preview:

Manchester United continued their fantastic form by knocking out Arsenal at The Emirates in the FA Cup and winning the game 3-1, and they were good for the win too.

The turnaround at the club since the appointment of Ole Gunner Solskjaer has been nothing short of stunning. United have won 8 games in a row in all competitions and they will be expected to make that 9 when they entertain Burnley at what will be a jovial Old Trafford.

United have the chance to move into 5th place if Arsenal slip up but they may just have their sights on higher than that. At home The Red Devils have won their last 4 games in a row and have scored 13 goals in those games. They look unstoppable at this time and they clearly have a mission.

Burnley have been poor for much of the season although they have hit some wonderful form of late, and this is the type of football which should be able to save them. They are unbeaten in their last 4 games winning 3 of them and despite still being in 16th place they are 3 points safe of the bottom three.

Their last league game ended in a 0-0 result away to Watford which was seen as a respectable result and lately they have beaten the likes of Fulham, Huddersfield and West Ham. Away from home they have lost 7 from 12 games but they are unbeaten in their last two games.

Team News:

Manchester United: Marouane Felliani is ruled out for 3-4 weeks with a calf injury. Chris Smalling could return to the fold after resuming training after his foot injury

Burnley: Phillip Bardsley has a slight knock but is expected to be fit. Robert Brady will be assessed with a groin injury and is 50/50

Man Utd vs Burnley Head to Head:

Earlier this season Manchester United won this game 2-0.

The last time the two teams met at Old Trafford last season the game ended 2-2. Indeed the last two games when United have been at home has finished in a draw.

Burnley have not beaten Manchester United in any fixture since 2009.

5 from the last 7 meetings have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Man Utd vs Burnley Prediction:

As expected United are big odds on to win the game being quoted as low as 1.20. We have to give some respect to Burnley because they have found a new way of winning and their form has been good. However their latest wins have been against opponents in the lower half of the league and this is a huge step up for them. Whilst it is true that they have performed well at Old Trafford in the last few games they are simply meeting a team whose mentality, approach and confidence this season has taken a 360 degree turn. Expect goals.

Man Utd vs Burnley Betting Tips:
