England Premier League
Tuesday 3rd January 2023
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
Manchester United have been one of the form sides in the league with 3 wins in a row. Most significant is that they have passed Tottenham and are now in 4th place and are just 2 points behind Newcastle in 3rd and the Red Devils have a game in hand, so this is a pretty big game for Erik ten Hag’s side.
United beat Wolves away from home in closely fought game just before the end of the year and over the Christmas period they comfortably beat Nottingham Forest 3-0. With the season being so unpredictable (just ask Liverpool) United will want to get this win done and dusted because apart from Arsenal teams this season are finding it hard to have too much consistency. United have won 12 points from their last 15 on offer and at home they have lost just once and have five wins.
The Cherries are down in 15th place and United have double their points, it hasn’t been easy of late for the club who have lost 4 of their last 5 games. Over the Christmas period they lost against Chelsea and then Crystal Palace. A relegation fight is a real possibility for Bournemouth and they are only two points shy of being dragged in but with the form they are currently in and the opponent they are facing this game seems like a daunting task. Away from home they have managed just one win and lost their last 3 in a row. With 26 goals conceded that is the most in the league on the road and on average they are letting in 3 goals per away game.
Team News:
Manchester United: Diego Dalot is only 50/50 to return from his hamstring and probably won’t be rushed back. Lisandro Martinez could make a return after having extended time off because of the World Cup victory with Argentina. Scott McTominay will be assessed due to illness but is being tipped to be fine. Jadon Sancho has a lack of match fitness and looks set to miss out again.
Bournemouth: Marcus Tavenier is 50/50 to return due to his hamstring, Junior Stanilas may be assessed for a knock but remains a slight doubt. Philip Billing could return from a knock, David Brooks is set to miss out again due to a lack of match fitness and Ryan Fredericks will be assessed for a knock but is rated as just 50/50 to make this game.

Man Utd vs Bournemouth Prediction:
This is a fixture that reminds us of Manchester United’s recent one against Nottingham Forest here a week ago when they eased to a very comfortable 3-0 victory and we expect United to do the same again. Surprises can happen but we don’t see it this time and in fact if United can score early they have every chance of putting quite a few past their opponents.
Some United fans were surprised to see man of the moment Marcus Rashford start from the bench against Wolves in the clubs last game, of course he came on and got the winner and so surely he will start this game. There are goals in this side and they could well get a few of them here so maybe we will see a surprise player for the home side score also. Bournmeouth don’t seem to have too much of a chance here and history and current form is very much against them.
