England Premier League

Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Match Preview:
One of the very famous fixtures will wrap up another weekend of Premier League football as Manchester United take on Arsenal.
Manchester United started the season poorly but have recovered well to win their last 3 games in a row. United have beaten Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester to climb up to 6th place heading into this weekend. The jury is perhaps still out on manager Erik ten Hag to get the best out of his side but we have seen good signs. For example he was able to motivate the team and drop players such as Harry Maguire and shift Ronaldo to the bench when required and it seems to be working for now. True the victories against Southampton and Leicester were only won 1-0 but at the same time they have been able to keep clean sheets. United have only played at home twice this season beating Liverpool and losing their first game of the season against Brighton.
There had to be a reaction to the slow start and Casemiro and the highly rated Antony have been brought in so it will be interesting how these players both adapt in the Premier League and if they can push United to where the club wants to be.
Arsenal haven’t put a foot wrong as of yet and are the only side to have a 100% record. From five games it’s five wins and the Gunners are 2 points clear of the champions Manchester City. In Midweek Mikel Arteta’s side beat Aston Villa 2-1 but he will understand how harsh football is if they come here and lose. Sceptics will say that the Gunners have not played real quality yet and they would be correct, no big 6 sides have been played and the fixtures one could say have fallen well to an Arsenal side who not only have confidence in bundles, but pace and skill in their side. It is games like this though away to United which will tell us if the Arteta’s project is running well.
Team News:
Manchester United: Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are doubts with knocks and only 50/50 to recover in time. Anthony Martial is out with his Achilles.
Arsenal: Martin Odegaard has a knock but it isn’t thought to be serious and he will be assessed. Oleksandr Zinchenko has a knee injury and is only 50/50 to feature. Aaron Ramsdale will be assessed due to a muscle injury. Thomas Partey is out until next month with a thigh injury and Mohamed Elneny is out long term after suffering a hamstring injury.
Man Utd vs Arsenal Head to Head:
Last season this fixture finished 3-2 to Manchester United.
The last time the teams played each other was at the Emirates in April and Arsenal won 3-1, it was the Gunners 100th victory over Manchester United.
In the last 4 games played at Old Trafford, Manchester United have only beate Arsenal once.
Last season’s fixtures produced 9 goals.
Man Utd vs Arsenal Prediction:
The spotlight will be on Arsenal because they have started so well and the question will be can they really continue this winning run away to Manchester United? In truth Arsenal would have liked to have played Ten Hag’s side 3 weeks ago when they genuinely looked lost, but United have improved. Their best game is still against Liverpool because of the sheer intensity showed and Arsenal should expect to see that energy level in this game, they are after all a direct top 4 rival for a Champions League place.
We expect everything in this game, end to end football, battles in midfield, a plethora of cards and perhaps some controversy in between. But it should be a great spectacle for everyone watching. Arsenal lost here last season but they do have some good results against United here since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. But there seems to be a new layer to this United side and we think at home with the encouragement of the new signings, a shift in ideas from Ten Hag they should be getting something from these kinds of games. We have spoken about the character of Arsenal to come here and win but United have to prove that too, they have a good chance to get the 3 points but there will be some reserves of judgement in place about this United team and these are the type of games to quash that.
