England Premier League
Sunday 3rd December 2023
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
The weekend games in the Premier League will finish with this heavyweight clash and mouthwatering game. Past games have been full of excitement and goals and the feeling will be the same for this game. Both clubs could be affected by the result in pursuit for first place and fall off the pace setters Arsenal.
Manchester City at home of course will be the favourites but they have dropped points in their last two games with two draws in a row coming against Chelsea and Liverpool. In City’s last home game they drew 1-1 with the Reds despite creating many chances and a defeat here would leave the champions four points behind league leaders Arsenal. At home Liverpool became the first team to take points from City but otherwise they have won five from six games and are almost scoring on average three goals per game. In midweek Pep Guardiola’s side staged a fantastic comeback against RB Leipzig winning the game 3-2 after finding themselves 2-0 down.
Is Tottenham’s season unfolding like the others? The club started well and for the first three months were probably the best side in the league even. But they have now lost 3 games in a row and the knives will be sharpening. In that time the club have lost 4-1 against Chelsea, 2-1 against Wolves and 2-1 against Aston Villa; those defeats have included two at home. This has left Spurs in 5th place with 26 points and they could well finish the weekend a whopping seven points behind Arsenal. But there is some good news and that is Tottenham coming into this weekend has the best away record with 14 points won from 21 and with 15 goals scored, only Manchester City have scored more.
Team News:
Manchester City: Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes will both be assessed but remain slight doubts. Kevin De Bruyne is nearing a return from his lengthy time out from a hamstring injury but could be back in two weeks.
Tottenham: Rodrigo Bentancur is out for two months with an ankle injury. James Maddison won’t return for five weeks with an ankle injury. Ashley Phillips is out for at least 3 weeks due to an ankle injury. Richarlison is not expected back until next weekend as he recovers from a pelvic injury. Manor Soloman looks like this game will come too early for him as he recovers from his knee injury but he could be back as early as next week. Cristian Romero is suspended but will be back next week. Ivan Perisic is out for the season and Ryan Sessegnon remains out with a hamstring injury with no fixed return date.
Man City vs Tottenham Head to Head:
Last season Manchester City won this fixture 4-2.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
There hasn’t been a 0-0 result in this fixture in 13 years.
Man City vs Tottenham Prediction:
Tottenham have beaten Manchester City on five occasions from the last 8 games and City will be wary of that. The big loss of course is Harry Kane who has been a thorn in City’s side and this will be a very difficult game for the London club on top of just losing three games in a row. It seems like a big ask to come here and get something from the game Tottenham are a side who are always creating chances much like Liverpool from last weekend. However Liverpool have been there, seen it and have the know how. Tottenham will recover this season but they have had a knock back and they are going to start questioning themselves and this game looks like it would have had a better outcome earlier in the season, for us this is a home win but we do expect to see a very entertaining one with lots of emotions on the pitch.
