England Premier League
Wednesday 10th March 2021
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
Manchester City finally lost a game as they went down 2-0 at home to Manchester United. Usually this would be a big deal but you get the feeling that manager Pep Guardiola can accept this defeat after the fantastic run that has seen his side wipe the floor clean with every other rival in the Premier League. Of course there would have been some disappointment in the dressing room but the club are still 11 points clear of 2nd place United and the league title looks a formality.
At home City have been very strong and the defeat in the derby was only their 2nd of the season. They will be backed here to win this game and will be big odds on to make it their 21st league victory this season.
The last time Southampton visited Manchester they conceded 9 goals, that was against Manchester United of course and many will believe that they will add to that tally in midweek. On form Southampton would be bottom of the league, still they did win their first game in 10 attempts last weekend as they beat Sheffield United 2-0. Of course the Blades are bottom of the league but a win is a win and the likes of James Ward-Prowse looked back to their best. One of the major problems with the club in the middle of the season is how some of their very talented players have simply gone quiet.
Team News:
Manchester City: City have no injuries coming into this game.
Southampton: Danny Ings is out for at least 3 weeks with a muscle injury. Theo Walcott and Oriol Romeu are still out and could be missing for the rest of this month.

Man City vs Southampton Prediction:
There can be shocks in the Premier League and we have seen plenty of these but we expect that this game will be about Manchester City flexing their muscles once again and taking out their recent defeat on Southampton. That doesn’t mean it will be a cricket score though and in fact we have seen some close encounters by these teams in recent matches.
But we do expect to see a comfortable result for the home team. The league looks like it is theirs. But Guardiola will remind the team that lose this game and the gap could be reduced very soon to 8 points, and in this unpredictable league you never know what is round the corner. Still City will be unbackable on big odds on to win this so we will look into different markets.
