England Premier League
Saturday 21st August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
One game down and the champions Manchester City have already lost and that could and should spell disaster for Norwich.
City lost against Tottenham 1-0 and they haven’t had much of a pre-season but one would believe the club will be a little sharper for this game at home. City played some good football in London but Tottenham might just be turning into their bogey team and Nuno Santo does have quite a good record over Pep Guardiola.
City will have dusted themselves down and we don’t expect them to lose many games this season especially at home, no one at the club will be saying it but with their attacking potential many will feel a win over Norwich is inevitable.
Spare a thought for Norwich though who had to play Liverpool in their opening game, so have had to face the last 2 champions of the Premier League back to back. That is harsh. Against Liverpool the Canaries were outclassed and lost that game 3-0. It was the way they lost that has some pundits already believing that Norwich could go back down.
Team News:
Manchester City: Phil Foden is out for 3 weeks with a foot injury. Ilkay Gundogan picked up a shoulder injury v Tottenham and will be assessed.
Norwich: Sam Byram is out with his hamstring, Prze Placheta is recovering from Covid-19 and looks likely to miss this game.
Man City vs Norwich Head to Head:
The last time the teams played here in 2020 Manchester City eased to a 5-0 victory.
Manchester City have scored 7 goals past Norwich in the last two meetings.
Norwich last won at Manchester City in 2013.
Man City vs Norwich Prediction:
There will of course be plenty of surprises in the Premier League this season and even if Norwich were to draw this game it would be seen as such. City can’t afford to lose games like this when they started off the campaign with defeat and in fact we expect City to score plenty of goals in this game and get a very good confidence building win.
Norwich of course will try and will have some chances too such is the Premier League but to be honest one could expect that Norwich are looking beyond their first two games of the season and seeing what else materialises.
City for a good win looks like the bet to take on but backing City for a straight win though offers no value as they are big odds on.
