England Premier League
Saturday 26th December 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
For Manchester City it has been a slow start to the campaign and they come into this match 8 points behind league leaders Liverpool although they do have a game in hand.
Last weekend was a reminder of how strong City can be as they beat Southampton away from home 1-0, this was an impressive team in Southampton who have started the season better than City and winning the game and not conceding a goal is just what City needed.
Recent victories over Burnley and Fulham where City scored 7 goals in those matches was welcomed and seemed to signal that City had found their footing this season, and then they drew at home to West Bromwich Albion. City are a powerful team with an abundance of quality but there are just small doubts about where they are going this season. However at home they have lost just once so far.
Newcastle are in 12th place and a win would take the Magpies just a couple of points from City. Last weekend they drew at home to Fulham which was seen as disappointing but with 7 points earned from the last 15 manager Steve Bruce will be neither happy or angry with that as his side try to improve on last season.
The Magpies recent away form is not good with just 1 win from their past five and their last away game ended in a 5-2 defeat at Leeds.
Team News:
Manchester City: No new injuries ahead of the game but Eric Garcia with his leg is out long term.
Newcastle: Fernandez has some fitness issues and will be tested before this game. Jamaal Lascelles has Coronavirus and is ruled out of this game, the same applies to Allan Saint-Maximin.
Man City vs Newcastle Head to Head:
Last season Manchester City beat Newcastle 5-0.
From the last 25 league fixtures Newcastle have just 1 win against Manchester City.
There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Man City vs Newcastle Prediction:
Manchester City should have little problem winning this match, though of course everyone thought the same when they drew 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion at home but there are only so many points that City will drop at home this season.
City are huge odds on to win the game and so there isn’t really any value to be had with the club in that regard. Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is on the verge of signing a contract extension with the club until 2023 and when that happens and both parties feel good about it, it is always worth picking out a player to score anytime and De Bruyne could be worth a look. Other than that the value could be in predicting how many goals will be in the game.
Man City vs Newcastle Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-2 Man City) at 1.525
Goal line (Over 3) at 1.525
Anytime goalscorer: Kevin De Bruyne at 2.00
