Match Preview:
It’s the champions against the up and coming side who want to win the league title for themselves and Eddie Howe’s side have already answered many questions from last season, they are clearly a team progressing.
First up to Manchester City who were almost unbeatable at home last season and they will need to have a brilliant home campaign to have any chance of winning a record breaking 4th league title in a row. They have started off the campaign in excellent form making light work of Burnley on the opening weekend and last season's top goalscorer and sensation Erling Haaland scored two goals. City followed up a busy schedule by winning the UEFA Super Cup. They drew 1-1 with Sevilla but won the penalty shoot out to win their first ever Super Cup and this has set up the team to continue a winning run.
Newcastle are in 1st place by way of scoring the most goals on the opening weekend. The Magpies opened their account in crushing style as they destroyed Aston Villa 5-1 at home. Questions will be asked of their away form and what a first away game test against the best side in the league but there is no doubt that Howe’s side will give it a go in what could well be the best game of the weekend in the top flight.
Team News:
Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne is set to miss the next four months due to a hamstring injury. Bernardo Silva missed the Super Cup game in midweek due to illness, he will be assessed for this game.
Newcastle: Emil Krafth is still sidelined with his knee but could be back at the end of September. Javier Manquillo is out with his groin, Joseph Willock won’t return for at least a month due to his hamstring.

Last season there was a sense that Newcastle could come here and cause problems but in the end City’s class showed and they played out a calming but professional game and won. City will have to be aggressive given that they might be playing the nearest challengers to their league title this season. That is still unknown but Newcastle are becoming a force quickly.
Eddie Howe is a very smart manager and will have done his homework on City. They still have a plethora of attacking options but it is a huge blow for them to have De Bruyne out for the season. We will back City for the win but it is interesting that their price is a half decent one normally that is not the case at home and that shows you how much the market are respecting the threat from the Magpies. Erling Haaland has got back to scoring goals and he got a brace last weekend and perhaps we should be backing him to score yet again. He needs just 2 more goals to already chalk up 40 Premier League goals in total and he is showing no signs of letting up, his club need him in huge games like this too.
Newcastle have many options also and we expect a side who have just scored 5 goals to score here too. Just how much will the De Bruyne miss be felt?
