Match Preview:
The Manchester derby is one of the most important and greatest fixtures in English football and this should be another cracking tie.
In the last decade Manchester City has emerged as the more successful team in Manchester and they will be the favourites to win this encounter. If Arsenal have won on Saturday then City can’t go top of the league just yet but many observers believe it is only a matter of time, currently they are in 2nd place with 17 points and just a point behind the Gunners. Alongside Tottenham, City are the only side unbeaten so far with 5 wins and two draws. While points have been dropped on the road at home the champions have a 100% record from 3 games and have scored 14 goals conceding just twice. They are averaging almost 5 goals per game at home just let that sink in.
Of course playing their bitter rival could mean a closer game but in results over the past few seasons that hasn’t always been the case and City have recorded some fantastic wins over United. City’s last win at home came against Nottingham Forest with a 6-0 battering of the newly promoted side.
Manchester United are in very good form under Erik ten Hag after a slow start and they have won their last 4 games in a row. This includes wins over Liverpool and Arsenal so has Ten Hag managed to turn a corner? United have climbed up to 5th place and have 12 points and a win here would see them back in the mix. The Red Devils have won their last two away games and have earned the same number of points on the road than at home so far.
Team News:
Manchester City: John Stones is missing with his hamstring injury picked up on international duty and he isn’t expected back for another two weeks. Aymeric Laporte has recovered from injury but has some fitness doubts and will be assessed. Kalvin Phillips is out with a shoulder injury and is likely to be missing for the next 6 weeks at least.
Manchester United: Harry Maguire is out with a hamstring injury, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will be assessed due to a lack of match fitness. Martin Dubravka has a knock and will be assessed.

Man City vs Man Utd Prediction:
Walk before you can run and this is the feeling that perhaps United have under Ten Hag as they come into this game. United have looked like a different side before the international break and there has been more work rate and more belief but this is a huge step up for the club. The victories over Liverpool and Arsenal were brilliant but both happened at home, but of course it does show progress and certainly silenced a lot of Ten Hag’s critics. Away to City though seems to be a tough prospect and despite this being a derby which could get fiery if United were to come away even with a draw that would be a fantastic result for them.
This will be Erling Haaland’s first Manchester derby and we can expect the devastating goalscorer to want to put in even an extra shift to defeat the local rivals, he has started the season in stunning fashion and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he adds to his goal tally at the weekend. As for United they will create chances and perhaps the one weak thing that City has is that they can tend to start games slowly, can United take advantage of that?
For us we think that is an emphatic no and City should be winning this game and also putting in a strong performance but we won’t be taking on the 1.36 for them to do so so we will have to look into different markets.
