Match Preview:

This match feels like it has a Boxing Day cracker all over it. We all know what Manchester City are capable of and how brilliant they have been at home so far this season, but we also know that Leicester will attack too and let’s hope we can see a free flowing game full of chances.

Manchester City are in 1st place where the champions demand to be and they have pulled out a 3 point lead at the top over Liverpool. City would need a point in this game to guarantee they remain in 1st place as we come to the halfway point in the season. Not many will forget City’s last home game which finished in an emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Leeds. Pep Guardiola’s team followed that up with a 4-0 battering of Newcastle away from home. So that’s 11 goals in their last two games and that is what you associate with a team managed by Guardiola, in short City are playing like champions.

Leicester are in 9th place and such is the difference between the clubs this season that City have double the points of their opponents. Consistency has been the Foxes problem this season where one week they have looked like a very good side and the next like a bottom three side. Still the objective has to be to qualify for European football next season and the club are about 5 points from that target.

It’s just one defeat in Leicester’s last four games and their last match finished in a 4-0 win over Newcastle. The Foxes direct rivals are Wolves who are three points ahead of them but presently they do have 2 games in hand over them. On the road Brendan Rodgers side have been average to poor with just 2 games won and their last victory was almost two months ago. The clubs last away game ended in a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa.

Team News:

Manchester City: There are no new injuries for the club with just Ferran Torres out with his on going foot injury. He is due back in just under two weeks.

Leicester: Ayoze Perez, Hamza Choudhury, Vontae Daley-Campbell, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ademola Lookman and Jannick Vestergaard should all be coming back from having had Covid-19. Caglar Soyuncu is 50/50 to return for this game after his hamstring injury. Justin James could make his long awaited return but has some fitness issues and will be assessed.

Man City vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season these two sides played out a memorable game which finished in a 5-2 victory for Leicester.

In the last four meetings it has been two wins apiece.

It’s been 16 games since this fixture witnessed a 0-0.

Man City vs Leicester Prediction:

Leicester are never an easy team to predict but some of their better results have certainly come at home this season. On the road Leicester have won 8 points from 24 and are almost conceding 2 goals per game, and now they are up against the champions….

Leicester got a fantastic result here last season but when you stun City you rarely get a second bite at the apple and we expect that Guardiola’s team will be ready and motivated for this game. City are huge odds on which isn’t really fair, Leicester aren’t a terrible team, and this is supposed to be the season of goodwill, but at 1/6 most punters will be avoiding a home win.

Instead then we should concentrate on the goals market. Leicester have been good at shipping a few on the road and City are scoring loads at the moment, so this market looks to have potential.
