Match Preview:
The champions are hunting down Arsenal and the gap remains at 5 points as both sides won their respective games. City beat Leeds 3-1 a few days ago to win their 11th game of the season from 15 played. While the club are not in 1st place they have scored the most goals with 43 so far and 20 of them have been scored by Erling Haaland who scored another two against Leeds. He only needs 3 more to equal the highest goalscorers chart of last season in what has been an incredible season for the Norwegian so far.
Form wise City are having the odd bumps but they have won 4 of their last five and at home they have won 21 points from a possible 24 with just the one loss however that did come in their last game here which was against Brentford. Overall at home City have been frightening with 30 goals scored and just 9 conceded but they are scoring almost 4 goals per game at home and that will be a worrying thought for their visitors.
Everton were almost relegated last season and they may well face that prospect this season too. They are in 17th placed and they could drop into the bottom three with defeat here. In their last game it felt like a new low and certainly another blow as they were defeated 2-1 at home to Wolves. In a dull game that seemed like it would end 1-1, Wolves scored with literally the last kick of the game and that was a hammer blow to the Toffees.
Everton’s last win came back in October and from their last four matches they have won only 1 point. Away from home it’s just one win so far which came against Southampton and they have currently lost 50% of their games on the road scoring just 5 times so far.
Team News:
Manchester City: Julian Alvarez remains out as he is celebrating winning the World Cup but he should be back next week. Ruben Dias is out with his hamstring and not due back for another two weeks.
Everton: Yerry Mina has a hamstring injury however it isn’t thought to be too serious and he could be assessed. James Garner has a back injury and is set to be out for a month. Andros Townsend is still sidelined with his knee but is being tipped to return in two weeks.

Man City vs Everton Prediction:
Manchester City are too much odds on to be backed to win but it’s very difficult to see them losing this one. The Brentford loss feels like it was a one off and who could honestly see City losing two games back to back at home? Their win over Leeds was very important for the club after the six week break but again they started rather slow and only really got into it in the second half. Despite City not looking like their strongest they are dangerous and coming up against this Everton side at this point in time we can only see one winner.
The focus here will be on Erling Haaland and how devastating he is coming up against an Everton defence who have conceded 11 goals in their last four competitive games, and many will be fancing him to add to his incredible tally of 20 so far. Everton looked almost afraid to take advantage over Wolves in their last game and Wolves have not only been poor this season but Everton were at home. We don’t see how Everton can get anything here and the objective might be just to keep the score down to a respectable result.
