England Premier League
Saturday 10th February 2024
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
The 24th weekend of top flight football this season will kick off when the champions face off against strugglers Everton and Manchester City will be the big odds on favourites to win. Manchester City have been in brilliant form and have won their last five games in a row with wins over Everton, Sheffield United, Newcastle, Burnley and Brentford. City have looked relentless and have that sway back that only champions know how after a very average end to the year. The club come into this game on 49 points and are just two behind Liverpool but have played a game less, so City are back in control. At home the club has won 70% of its games but because of three draws it means that they only have the 5th best home record but alongside Liverpool they are the only side not to have lost at home.
Everton are not losing games but they are not winning either. The Toffees have drawn their last three in a row and that means they are in the relegation zone in 18th place. Luton are only one point ahead and Nottingham Forest are two points to the advantage so Everton has a chance of escaping the bottom three but the problem is by the end of this weekend will they be in deeper trouble as they will be expected to lose this game. Overall away form has been better than expected from Sean Dyche’s side whose majority result is the win and they have 5 from 11 games and have lost 4 times. However it has been almost two months since the Toffees won away from home and they have lost to Tottenham and Wolves and drawn against Fulham in that time.
Team News:
Manchester City: The club has no injuries to the first team ahead of this game.
Everton: Amadou Onana is being tipped to return from a knee injury and will be assessed. Abdoulaye Doucoure will likely miss out but could return next week as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Arnaut Danjuma, Andre Gomes and Dele Alli are out with no fixed return dates.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Man City vs Everton Prediction:
Not many will be backing the home side who are big odds on so one choice could be to back them to be winning at half time. Manchester City are in win mode and have simply been looking like champions for a good month now. In theory as they have a game in hand over Liverpool they would be top of the league but of course the league title is far from done, there is plenty to play for and it would only take a few slip ups to blow the title wide open once again.
It is hard to see past City who have a fantastic record over Everton but we know that this Everton side will fight and dig deep, and the tactic for City will be to try and score early. Make no mistakes while Everton really need to start winning games they would gladly take a point here so we should expect them to defend in numbers and having Jordan Pickford in goal is a huge advantage for the club. We can’t see past City though who will probably go the season unbeaten at home. For Everton this game could be about damage limitation.
