England Premier League
Saturday 30th October 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
For some teams, exiting the EFL Cup isn’t the biggest problem of the season and one would think that it wouldn’t be for such a successful side as Manchester City, but this is a cup that the club have absolutely dominated over the past decade and it does feel strange not to see them even at the quarter final stage. City drew 0-0 with West Ham but were knocked out on the penalty shoot-out in what would have been seen as a surprise result and make no mistake it would have irked manager Pep Guardiola. Guardiola prides himself on winning as many trophies as possible and that’s one down.
In the league the champions have been pretty flawless losing just one game so far and that was on the opening weekend of the season and at home they are undefeated. City are on a 2 game winning run having beaten Burnley and Brighton recently. The victory over Brighton was impressive given that Graham Potter’s side had started so well and City were able to go to the AMEX and win the game 4-1. In theory City could go top of the league with a win although in reality that would be a stretch given that both Chelsea and Liverpool would need to lose.
Crystal Palace come into this game in 15th place and have 9 points. The Eagles have had some hard descents but overall manager Patrick Vieira will be quietly pleased because some of the football coming out of the club has been impressive. Palace are also unbeaten in their last 4 games although all of those have ended in draws. Their last match was against Newcastle in a game that finished 1-1.
On the road Vieira’s side has one of the worst records so far with 2 defeats and two draws and they are conceding on average 2 goals per game on their travels.
Team News:
Manchester City: There are no new concerns for the club although forward Ferran Torres is out for at least the next two months due to his foot injury.
Crystal Palace: The Eagles have no new injuries coming into this game.
Man City vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Man City vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
Manchester City will of course be upset at their cup exit but with all due respect there is bigger fish to fry this season. Looking ahead City will play Club Brugge in the Champions League next week and they thrashed the Belgians away from home so that game should be a formality. City will not come into this league match having to think of their Champions League fixture and all attention will be paid into this game.
As the head to head tells us this is a fixture that City have totally dominated. Palace are a decent side under Vieira and we shouldn’t forget that but they have already conceded six goals in two games away to City’s rivals Chelsea and Liverpool and look set to ship more at the weekend.
City should win but that doesn’t mean we will see a one sided affair but we have to respect the fact that City are yet to concede at home and have already scored 12 goals. For this result we can’t look at anything but a home victory.
