Match Preview:
When you feel you’ve had such bad officiating that led to losing a game from winning it in the last few minutes which team do you not want to play next…away from home? Answer Manchester City, and if Neil Warnock and Cardiff were looking to heal some wounds after their controversial defeat at the hands of Chelsea, well they may have to wait until the next game.
Manchester City have been playing, as one would expect, some glorious football in the last few weeks especially even if they are not scoring a ton of goals to go with it and the mission is simple enough to defend their league title over Liverpool.
Liverpool went back to the top of the standings at the weekend after their very lucky last minute win against Tottenham but City have a game in hand and if they can beat Cardiff they will put the pressure back on Jurgen Klopp’s team.
As far as recent form goes there isn’t a better team in the league than City and at home City have won 15 of their 16 matches with just one defeat. They’ve ‘only’ scored 7 goals in their last four matches but they look like scoring almost every minute and this will be a daunting game for The Bluebirds.
Cardiff lost at the weekend and they are now 5 points from safety so they won’t just turn up here and roll over. At the same time all they can realistically do is try and soak up the pressure and play on the counter, play toe to toe with City espeically at The Etihad and start counting the goal difference.
Neil Warnock’s side has just 1 win in their past five and away from home they have lost 10 from 14. The only encouraging sign is that even though they have won just 2 games on the road all season, those wins have occured in their last five away games.
Team News:
Manchester City: Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of this game with a slight muscle injury. Fabian Delph is still out with a knock.
