England Premier League
Wednesday 20th April 2022
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
Manchester City will be the huge favourites to win this game and with Liverpool playing the day before the Reds could well be in 1st place when this game kicks off. Although if Liverpool have dropped any points City will be even more determined to win this game. The bottom line of course is that the club need to focus simply on getting all three points.
There was disappointment for City at the weekend though as they were knocked out of the FA Cup against Liverpool at the semi-final stage. They lost 3-2 in the end after a fight back but had found themselves 3-0 down early on as manager Pep Guardiola rang some changes to his usual set up as the games come thick and fast.
City are aiming to win back to back titles and Liverpool are their only challengers with just 1 point in it coming into this week. Form has not been the best for City as they have drawn two of their last three games although one of those was their epic match with Liverpool at this ground which finished 2-2. At home they have won 10 points from their last 15 and won 11 games here from 15 played. With 42 goals scored no other team has netted more goals when at home than City.
Brighton are in 10th place and their objective will be to finish in the top half of the league. Over the past six weeks the club has had its ups and downs and did hit a wall of poor form but recently their form has vastly improved and they come into this game unbeaten in their last 3 games. Impressively they have won their last two beating Arsenal and Tottenham.
On the road Brighton have been good and have the 6th best record in the league losing just 3 games although their majority of results away from home have ended in draws with 7 so far from 16 games played.
Team News:
Manchester City: Kyle Walker has an ankle injury but is expected to recover for this game. Cole Palmer will be assessed for a lack of match fitness.
Brighton: Yves Bissouma is suspended for 2 games. Steven Alzate is ill and is only 50/50 to make this game. Shane Duffy will be assessed due to his recent thigh injury but hasn’t been as yet ruled out.
Man City vs Brighton Head to Head:
Last season Manchester City won this game 1-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Manchester City won 4-1.
There is a 60% chance to see over 3.5 goals.
Man City vs Brighton Prediction:
The worry for Manchester City is that Brighton have recently beaten Arsenal and Tottenham and both of those clubs are fighting for a Champions League place, Brighton are not fighting for any thing as they can’t qualify for Europe and that shows a team with plenty of back bone and a good manager in Graham Potter. True Brighton will be the big underdogs to get anything here but we can expect them to fight and the longer the game stays 0-0 the more problems City will have.
City should be too strong for Brighton and it would be a real shock to see any other result than a home win. However there is very little value on the home win so we will focus on goals. Raheem Sterling is due a goal and he has come close lately and we will also back him to get on the score sheet.
Man City vs Brighton Betting Tips:
