England Premier League

Kick off at 7:45pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Match Preview:
Manchester City could go 12 points clear at the top with victory on Wednesday evening and being at home against Brentford it almost feels inevitable that they will.
City drew their last game away to Southampton but the champions have looked fantastic and are unbeaten for over 3 months as they look to win back to back titles. City got back to winning ways in the FA Cup at the weekend as they easily deposed of Fulham winning the game 4-1. At home their record is almost frightening and they have the best home form in the league and have won 9 games from 11 played. The club are scoring almost 3 goals per game and have conceded just 6 times in front of their own fans.
Brentford were dumped out of the FA Cup at the weekend as they lost 4-1 away to Everton. Overall the Bees have done well this season with the budget they have but there is a worry that Thomas Frank’s side could slip down. The club have lost their last 4 games and as a result come into this game in 14th place with 23 points. Right now there should be no panic and they are 8 points above the relegation zone but things can change very quickly in the Premier League and Leeds if they win their midweek game would go above Brentford.
Away form for the Bees has seen just 2 wins from 11 games and they have lost their last 3 with their last away game ending in a solid 3-0 loss to Liverpool. Indeed the club have shipped 7 goals in their last two away games in the league and 11 goals in all competitions in their last 3 away games.
Team News:
Manchester City: Gabriel Jesus has a minor muscle injury but is being expected to be fit for this game. There are no other concerns for City ahead of this game.
Brentford: Tariqe Fosu-Henry is out long term with a hamstring injury. Bryan Mbeumo is a doubt with illness and will be assessed it is the same problem for Yoane Wissa. Zanka has finally recovered from injury but has a lack of match fitness. He was initially tipped to return for this game but that may be pushed back until the weekend.
Man City vs Brentford Head to Head:
Manchester City were at Maine Road the last time the clubs played when City were the home side. This was back in 1989 and City won 4-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture City won 1-0.
The clubs have only played each other 14 times and City have 8 wins.
Man City vs Brentford Prediction:
Manchester City are huge odds on and a market we should be concentrating on is the goals one. There is always good value in it and we expect City to be relaxed and professional and get the job done at home. Some may say that their upcoming return to the Champions League may divert some attention but there are other games to be played first and this one won’t have any bearing on that.
What is scary is how great Pep Guardiola’s team have been this season and that they do not have key personnel out, basically everyone is fit and ready to play.
Brentford have problems and they might have to be looking at their upcoming fixture list because this is a game that could be lost very early on. Striker Ivan Toney has hardly put himself in the good books of the fans after his comments last week, but he did score a penalty against Everton in the FA Cup during their heavy defeat at the weekend. In short he needs to prove himself. We have to give respect to the Bees of course who really made City work for their narrow 1-0 win away from home but we expect to see a few goals here and for City to turn on the style.
