Man City vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 4th November 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Etihad Stadium

Match Preview:

After a wobble last month that witnessed Manchester City lose two league games in a row Pep Guardiola’s side look back to normal service and it helps that Bernardo Silva and Rodri have both returned for the last few games. Kevin De Bruyne has been a huge loss in midfield but he is scheduled to return next month and for all their key injuries they will take only being 2 points adrift of league leaders Tottenham.

City come into this weekend having won their last two. First they beat Brighton 2-1 at home and then impressed in a brilliant 3-0 win away to their bitter rivals Manchester United who continue to struggle this season. The worry for Bournemouth is that Erling Haaland is scoring goals again and he got a brace in the derby and now has 11. At home City have a 100% record and have scored 10 goals and conceded just two times.

Bournemouth have been poor and are down in 17th place and have won just once so far. The good news is it did come last weekend as they beat Burnley 2-1 so that will naturally put them in a good mood but they will remain realistic about their chances of getting anything here. They have lost 60% of games and scored just 8 goals and away from home they have the second to worst record in the league with just 1 point earned from a possible 12, no wins and they are almost shipping three goals per game.

Team News:

Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne is the only player missing for the champions and is not due back until next month because of his hamstring.

Bournemouth: Lewis Cook is suspended for this game and won’t return until next week. Murara Neto could miss the next three months with an ankle injury. Darren Randolph is ill and isn’t expected back for this game. Emiliano Marcondes, Ryan Fredericks and Tyler Adams are all out.

Man City vs Bournemouth Prediction:

It’s no surprise that Manchester City are huge odds on and no one will be touching their full time result. Either you go for half time or in play and hope it stays 0-0 for some time. Of course City are suspect for a few shocks at home and we have seen this happen and that is why when they are being quoted at 1.15 or 1.10 it simply isn’t worth it and offers no value. At the same of course City have a 99% chance of winning and have never lost to Bournemouth and they are finding their form again. One criticism that could be pointed at them is their lack of goals at home and five teams have scored more than them, still they have managed 10 goals from 4 games and they might well get up to their normal goal scoring rate after this game.

Considering that Bournemouth have just one win this season and haven’t won away from home and are now coming up against the best team in Europe we give them no chance of a win or even a draw, so let’s see what markets we can pick out for a game that should be a straightforward win for the home team.

Man City vs Bournemouth Betting Tips:

Half Time/Full Time: Manchester City/Manchester City at 1.50

Erling Haaland to score 2 or more goals at 2.50

Anytime goalscorer: Julian Alvarez at 2.00
