Venue: Kenilworth Road
Match Preview:
Luton produced an excellent result at the weekend as they knocked out Everton away from home in a 2-1 victory to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup- the Hatters will now meet Manchester City.
It’s back to focusing on the league and currently Luton will be relegated as they are in 18th place with 16 points. The good news is that they have both Everton and Nottingham Forest well within their sights and recent form has been encouraging with just one defeat in their last four games. In the past month the Hatters have witnessed victories over Newcastle and Sheffield United and in their last league game they were able to draw 1-1 away to Burnley. Whilst Luton have only won 20% of their games at home so far their form is improving, although they did lose their last home game which came against Chelsea.
Sometimes all Premier League games clashes in the FA Cup can be unpredictable but that was not the case when Brighton took on Sheffield United. Brighton were the odds on favourites and they ran out 5-2 winners. The Seagulls have had a solid season so far and come into this game in 7th place with 32 points but their season could still go either way. With the teams around them so close in points it would only take a couple of bad results to drop into the bottom half of the table. On the plus side and for now Roberto De Zerbi’s side could well finish in a European position and they would go into sixth place with victory in this game. Recent away form has seen back to back draws which came against Crystal Palace and West Ham and recent overall form has seen the club go on an 4 game unbeaten run. Their last league game finished in a 0-0 draw with Wolves.
Team News:
Luton: Issa Kabore is on international duty, Mads Andersen is only rated as 50/50 to return due to a calf injury. Marvelous Nakamba is out with a knee injury and Tom Lockyer is out for an extended period with illness
Brighton: Kaoru Mitoma, Simon Adingra and Bertrand Traore are all on international duty. Ansu Fati has a lack of match fitness and will be assessed but is only 50/50 to make this game. Julio Enciso is not due back for at least another month with his knee injury. Joel Veltman is out for another two weeks also due to his knee and Soloman March is out long term with a knee injury
Luton vs Brighton Head to Head:
The clubs have not met here since 2009 which was in the Johnstones Paint Trophy and that game finished 1-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Brighton ran out 4-1 winners.
Five from the last 6 meetings have seen both teams to score.
Luton vs Brighton Prediction:
There has to be credit given to Luton because despite their obvious shortcomings they have improved over the past month and even when they lost against Chelsea they gave the Blues a tough game and almost forced a draw. Brighton are going to take a lot from the fact of putting 5 goals past a current bottom three side and they put four past Luton earlier in the season. Brighton will start as favourites and it’s difficult to back against the Seagulls even though we do expect a much closer and more competitive game from the earlier fixture. Brighton have had their own wobbles with too many draws lately but considering they have some key players missing the team are hard to beat and De Zerbi has adapted to the problem almost with ease.
Luton vs Brighton Betting Tips:
