England Premier League
Sunday 29th December 2019
Kick off at 4.30pm GMT
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
After beating Flamengo in the World Club Cup in Qatar Liverpool seemingly just adjusted to Premier League life a few days later like they had never left the country and went to the 2nd placed team in Leicester and destroyed them 4-0.
For Liverpool it has been good news after good news and this is a team that are the genuine champions-elect. The quality and confidence that they have has been infectious as they go from strength to strength. They have over a 10 point lead at the top of the standings and have a game in hand over their rivals and no teams look like stopping them now even if we are at only the half way stage of the season.
It’s incredible to think that Liverpool have won 17 of their 18 games so far this season and are still unbeaten. Only Manchester United have taken points from them and at home they have a perfect 100% record played 9 won 9.
Wolves are in 8th place with 27 points and they beat Norwich in their last game winning 2-1. Form is not great for the club with two wins in their last five and away from home they have won just 3 games. However the club have only lost once on the road this season and of course went to the current champions Manchester City and beat them 2-0. They have drawn over 50% of their games away from home. An unlikely win for the club could see them crash into the top 4.
Team News:
Liverpool: Jordan Henderson has a slight knock but should be fine to recover. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could miss the next 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury
Wolves: The club have no new injuries coming into this game
Liverpool vs Wolves Head to Head:
Liverpool won this game last season 2-0.
Wolves last won at Anfield in 2017.
Liverpool have won 5 from the last 7 meetings.
Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction:
One wonders if tiredness will ever set in with Liverpool who's fitness levels appear superhuman at times. It is the only question mark over a side who will be facing a tough opponent at the weekend. Liverpool are big odds however it's difficult to see any other outcome than a Liverpool win. Therefore we will opt for a shorter odds selection as our main bet as there is very little value elsewhere unless you feel like risking going against Liverpool, and at Anfield that is something we don't fancy. We will also back Sadio Mane to score, he netted a brace the last time the teams met here.
Liverpool vs Wolves Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool) at 1.43
Anytime goalscorer: Sadio Mane at 1.91
