England Premier League
Sunday 6th December 2020
Kick off at 7:15pm GMT
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
Liverpool aren’t losing games, just one so far this season but they are drawing them with two in their last three games, which is just keeping them with the chasing pack instead of running out into the horizon like they did last season.
The Reds come into this game in 2nd place with the same points as league leaders Tottenham, just goal difference is making the difference. In the Champions League in midweek Liverpool beat Ajax, and they were at home so at least that game involved no extra travelling.
Last weekend they were denied three points as they drew with Brighton 1-1. VAR certainly played its part chalking off a few goals and then Brighton had an injury time penalty which left Jurgen Klopp slightly miffed to say the least.
Whilst Liverpool have dropped points this season no one can deny how strong they have been at home. They are the only side in the league to remain unbeaten at home and have won 5 out of 5 games. They are scoring almost 3 goals per game at Anfield and their last match here ended in a solid 3-0 win over Leicester.
Wolves pulled off a great result last weekend as they beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates. Though their victory was overshadowed by the nasty injury to striker Raul Jimenez who accidently clashed heads with David Luiz and as a result had a fractured skull. Thankfully he is recovering and should be back soon.
Still missing Jimenez is a real blow for Wolves although Daniel Podence can push more forward and he did so against Arsenal and scored and could be a threat in this game.
Wolves have moved up to seventh place and a win should take the club into the top five and they would only be a point behind Liverpool. Wolves have a pattern away from home and if it were to continue this would be a loss, still the club have won 3 games from five so far on the road.
Team News:
Liverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold is being tipped to feature in this game after recovering from a calf injury. Alisson is out with a hamstring injury and he could miss the next 10 days at least. Naby Keita is due back after his hamstring injury though this hasn’t been confirmed. James Milner is a major doubt with his on going muscle injury. Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson are carrying minor problems but both are expected to play.
Wolves: Raul Jimenez is the only injury concern for the club. His head injury could keep him out for the rest of the year at least.
Liverpool vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season Liverpool won this fixture 1-0.
Liverpool have won the last six league meetings in a row.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Sadio Mane has scored 3 goals in the last three meetings v Wolves.
Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction:
This is a tough game for Liverpool and Wolves have proved their credentials over the past two seasons. But Liverpool at home are just on another level and we don’t expect to see them drop points here.
Keep and eye on Sadio Mane who has had a quiet beginning of the season for his standards, he plays well against Wolves and we will back him to score in this game. Wolves will have their chances but our feeling is that this match could go the way the Leicester game went and Liverpool could score a few goals here.
Liverpool just have a very unique quality at home of dictating the pace and it will be interesting to see how Wolves deal with that but the bottom line is the away side have not beaten Liverpool in the league since 2010, and we don’t think we will see any change to that this weekend.
Liverpool vs Wolves Betting Tips:
Liverpool to beat Wolves at 1.50
Anytime goalscorer: Sadio Mane at 2.10
Half Time: Liverpool to be winning 1-0 or 2-0 at 3.25 and 7.00
