Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
It’s already been a rollercoaster ride for Tottenham’s 3rd manager of the season, Ryan Mason, as he witnessed his side come back from 2 goals down at home to Manchester United to draw 2-2 and keep their European hopes alive, and now they face another heavyweight in Liverpool.
This is a big game for Liverpool as they would go above Tottenham and have a game in hand if they win here and the odds seem stacked in their favour. Despite a poor season by their standards the Reds have remained a great team at home and have won 34 of their 45 points losing just once, they have also notched in 39 goals at home and only Manchester City and Arsenal have done better. The Reds have won 4 and drawn one from their last five games at home with their last one ending in a much closer contest than most would have thought after they edged out Nottingham Forest 3-2. There was also a recent 2-2 draw with Arsenal but Jurgen Klopp’s side came away the happier team given they were losing that one. Overall form has picked up too and Liverpool come into this game having won their last 3, and in midweek they picked up their 15th win of the season after beating West Ham 2-1 away from home.
Tottenham did conjure up some heroics against Manchester United in midweek but their form has been off and they have no wins in their last three. No fan will want to be reminded of their last away game which ended in a 6-1 loss to Newcastle, the club felt embarassed enough to refund fans their tickets. Tottenham come into this weekend in 5th place and can still make a real splash for a top four finish with a win here, they could go just 3 points behind Manchester United in 4th if United were to lose against Aston Villa. Mason will know though that if he can get the club winning games from now until the end of the season they should be able to qualify for Europe however tasting Champions League football this season anything but that would be an obvious step backwards.
Team News:

Liverpool vs Tottenham Head to Head:
Last season this fixture finished 1-1.
It’s been 5 years since Tottenham beat Liverpool and almost 12 years since they won away.

The last 5 meetings have seen both teams to score.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Prediction:
We expect to see a home win and although we know Tottenham can raise their game they have blown too hot and cold and shouldn’t really be trusted against quality away from home. Tottenham have always had a terrible time away to Liverpool and some times at home they have been able to claim draws but time and again we have seen the Reds simply overwhelm their opponents and we think this is how this game at the weekend will play out.
Luis Diaz is getting back to his pacey best and earlier this season that man Mohamed Salah scored a brace against Tottenham. We can almost visualise him peeling away and celebrating another goal. That isn’t to disrespect Tottenham but they are a team who are trying to stable a ship that has been through a tornado and ended up with Ryan Mason in charge. It is difficult to see how they can make a good impactful game against this Liverpool side away from home and who are in form.
