Liverpool vs Nottm Forest: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 29th October 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Anfield

Match Preview:

Liverpool beat Toulouse 5-1 in midweek and perhaps it wouldn’t be a surprise if they repeated that trick at the weekend. Liverpool have started the season strong with just the one defeat so far and come into this weekend in 4th place. They are six points behind Tottenham but have a game to play. Last weekend was important for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they ended a short two game run without victory with a Merseyside derby win over Everton winning 2-0. That result would have given the players a timely boost and they cannot afford to drop points here with Tottenham’s great start to the season.

At home the Reds have a 100% record and have scored 11 goals and conceded just twice. You get the sense there is more to come from the team as some new players gel in but they are no doubt looking strong. Nottingham Forest have dropped to 15th place and have 10 points but recent form will be a worry for Steve Cooper’s side who have no wins in their last five games. However they have only lost once and have drawn 4 of the last five. Currently it’s three draws on a spin against Luton, Brentford and Crystal Palace. On the road Forest have lost 60% of their games winning just once which was a surprise one as they beat Chelsea but in general this team look like they are going to struggle away from home.

Team News:

Liverpool: Curtis Jones is suspended and not due back until next week. Andrew Robertson could miss the next two months due to a shoulder injury. Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic are missing. Thiago Alcantara has recovered from injury but is struggling for fitness and remains a doubt for this game.

Nottingham Forest: Taiwo Awoniyi is out with his groin and not expected back until next week. Danilo continues to struggle with his hamstring and remains a major doubt as does Felipe with his knee. Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out for 4-5 weeks with a hamstring injury, Nuno Tavares is out with his groin and Divock Origi looks set to not return for a month also with a groin injury.

Liverpool vs Nottm Forest Head to Head:

Last season Liverpool won 3-2 in this fixture.

The clubs have played each other three times recently because of cup games and Liverpool have won 2 and Forest once.

Liverpool vs Nottm Forest Prediction:

Liverpool can be backed at 1.25 and with some that price is even shorter so not many punters will be after them for the win. Although the majority of us can agree that Liverpool should win this. Even though the Reds played in midweek it was at home and the result was positive and we don’t see many teams, if any, this season coming here and winning. Liverpool look strong, positive, confident and dangerous and while Forest haven’t been too poor there is a gulf in quality between the sides and it feels as though it is a matter of time from when the referee blows his whistle that Liverpool will find the first goal.

It is a big blow for Forest to be missing the services of Taiwo Awoniyi and let’s face it they gave the Reds a good run for their money last season and did score three goals against them in the two games played last season. Liverpool have a chance not to just win here but score a few goals too and we think they will ease to victory to keep the heat on league leaders Tottenham.
