England Premier League
Saturday 19th February 2022
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
Liverpool have looked very consistent lately and that is usually a moment for other teams to be afraid however going into this weekend there is a 9 point difference to league leaders Manchester City. Liverpool could make this just six points as City have to play a few hours later and a win here would perhaps put a psychological pressure on the champions ahead of their game.
In midweek Liverpool beat Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League in Italy and that is no mean feat to beat the champions of Italy in their own ground. The Reds had to sustain some pressure but in the end they showed their vast quality in getting the result and will feel that they have one foot in the quarter finals of the competition. In the league they have won their last four games with their last match finishing in a 1-0 victory over Burnley. At home the Reds are still undefeated and from a possible 33 points have 27. Their last win at home was against Leicester.
Norwich will be the huge outsiders to get anything from this game but they need everything. The Canaries still have a chance to survive but it is getting harder by every week now and they are in 18th place but 4 points from safety. Because of their poor goal difference that is more like 5 points from safety and to make matters worse they have also played a game more than 17th placed Newcastle. It doesn’t look good for Dean Smith’s side.
Of course Norwich aren’t going down without a fight and we have seen some resistance from the club this year. There have been wins over Everton and Watford and a draw against Crystal Palace. Last week the club lost against Manchester City but of course that was highly expected but it is their first defeat since mid January. The worry for Norwich is that if the two clubs below them in Watford and Burnley were to win and Norwich as expected lose this game they would go back to the bottom of the league.
Team News:
Liverpool: Diogo Jota could miss this game because of an ankle injury he is only 50/50 to make it and will be assessed. Jota is the only injury worry for the club ahead of this game.
Norwich: Adam Idah looks certain to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Tim Krul is out for another 3 weeks due to his on going shoulder injury. Andrew Omobamidele has a back injury and was expected back (pardon the pun) a week ago. But he now has to see a specialist and could be out for much longer. Lukas Rupp will be assessed after his injury but is likely going to miss this game and come back a week later.
Liverpool vs Norwich Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played in Liverpool was in 2019 and the Reds romped home 4-1.

Liverpool have scored 16 goals past Norwich in the last five meetings.
Liverpool vs Norwich Prediction:
Some bookmakers are quoting Norwich at 25.00 to win this game and you can see why. Liverpool are a world class team playing at home, full of confidence and know that they need to win this game to have any chance of catching Manchester City. Norwich have shown some good moments this year but with all due respect Liverpool aren’t going to mess up and mess up they would need to, to end up losing this game.
The Reds are around 1.08 to win this game so we will need to look into different markets and the goals one seems to be the best option. We expect complete domination from Klopp’s side. Norwich will try and frustrate but Liverpool are simply too good and will over power them at one point in the game.
