Match Preview:
Liverpool’s latest win last weekend came away to Wolves in a 2-0 victory that has ensured they will be top of the Premier League on Christmas Day. They are 4 points clear of Manchester City who lost in stunning fashion against Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp’s men certainly haven’t been the ones to blink first in the race for the league title.
The Reds are scoring on average 2 goals per game but it has been in defence where they have been most impressive conceding just 7 goals all season so far. They will be the big odds on favourites to beat Newcastle at Anfield.
Here they have conceded just twice all season and have won an astounding 22 points from the last 24 on offer. Liverpool also remain the only team in the league still unbeaten.
Newcastle are in 15th place and 31 points behind their hosts. Rafa Benitez has had quite a testing season and at least before the football starts he will be sure to receive a warm reception from The Kop as ex manager who won of course won the Champions League with the club back in 2005.
The Magpies have gone their last two games unbeaten after beating Huddersfield and drawing with Fulham and have lost just 1 game in their past four. What has been impressive is their recent away form where they have gone their past 4 matches unbeaten. However take out their result against Everton and all of the other matches have been against bottom half teams.

Liverpool: Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to be back for this match after his foot injury. Naby Keita will be assessed after a minor knock
Newcastle: Karl Darlow’s return has been delayed with his arm injury and there has been no further updates so could be 50/50 for this game. Ki Sung-Yueng is away on international duty with South Korea in the Asian Cup

Though Liverpool are clearly the better side it has been interesting to watch Newcastle lose narrowly to the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. On each occasion just one goal has separated the teams. Because of this we think we can take Newcastle to win on the handicap, as we expect Liverpool to get all three points but their price of 1.13 represents zero value.
We will also look into the over goals market, because if Newcastle can score then Liverpool would need at least 2 or 3 to win so the over 3.5 goals market could be worth investing in. For smaller stakes we will predict the final score.
