Liverpool vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 30th January 2019
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Anfield

Match Preview:

With the league getting into the buisness end Liverpool know what they need to do and that is to keep on winning. For now the ball is firmly in their court as they look to win their first league title since 1990.

The Reds had a break at the weekend as they were knocked out of the FA Cup against Wolves in the 3rd round and it may have been a blessing in disguise as manager Jurgen Klopp has been running new drills on the training pitch ahead of this crucial match at Anfield.

Liverpool will be the favourites to win this game but as their last game against Crystal Palace showed in a nervy 4-3 win you can’t take anything for granted in the Premier League.

Liverpool have a fantatsic home record where they remain unbeaten and have won 10 of their 11 games. They have the 2nd best goalscoring record at home with 31 goals and have the best defensive record at home with just 6 shipped.

Leicester also had a week off as they are no longer in the FA Cup and they sit in 9th place. Their best possible finish this season will be 7th and they come into this game in poor form having lost 3 of their last 4 games.

The Foxes have picked up more points away than at home, though they did lose their last away match 4-3 to Wolves. However, before then they beat both Everton and Chelsea for some seriously impressive results and Claude Puel’s team remain genuinley a difficult team to predict.

Team News:

Liverpool: There are some genuine worries for Liverpool ahead of this game. Trent Alexander-Arnold is still a doubt with a knee injury and remains at 50/50, but is expected to miss this game. Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk have been ill with both missing training, though they will be assessed ahead of the game. Dejan Lovren is expected to return to the team after fitness issues. James Milner is suspended after his two yellow cards v Crystal Palace

Leicester: No new injury worries for The Foxes

Liverpool vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season this match finished 2-1 to Liverpool.

Liverpool have won the last 3 meetings against Leicester.

5 from the last 6 matches have seen both teams to score.

Liverpool vs Leicester Prediction:

Liverpool do have some genuine injury concerns and James Milner being suspended is not good news, but at home Liverpool have been simply superb and it seems difficult to think that they will drop points here. Having said that all depends on what Leicester side turn up and they have caused a few upsets this season. Jurgen Klopp has his team playing to win at all costs, it is an aggressiveness sometimes lacking in The Reds outfit of previous seasons and we think they will be picking up another three points.
