England Premier League
Saturday 5th October 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
Liverpool have had a fantastic start to the season winning all of their opening 7 games as they look to make amends for last season losing the league by one point over Manchester City. On Saturday afternoon they will host Leicester at Anfield in what should be a cracking game of football.
Whilst there looks like no stopping the Reds that doesn’t mean they have been without their critics, with some suggesting that the club have been lucky in the last couple of games. Victories over Chelsea and Sheffield United won 2-1 and 1-0 respectively have been analysed to death trying to find weaknesses in the side, and it is true that after strong starts they have let their opponents back into the game and are winning by 1 goal margins which keeps the fans finger nails well maintained but at the same time even if Liverpool are not playing at 100% they are still getting the three points.
In midweek Jurgen Klopp’s team had a game on their hands against Salzburg in the Champions League, cruising 3-0 at Anfield all seemed predictably well but Salzburg hadn’t read the script. The Austrian club pulled the game back to 3-3 and stunned the home fans, and yet Liverpool still found a winner to go out 4-3 victors. That is what this Liverpool side can do.
Leicester have had a superb start to the season and that was culminated in their 5-0 win over Newcastle last weekend. The club come here having won 4 of their last five games and just look like one of the most confident teams in the league.
However the Foxes away form does paint a different picture where they have picked up 4 points from a possible 9, losing against Manchester United and drawing against Chelsea. Their one win on the road came against Sheffield United. It is fair to say, with this game included that Leicester have had some tough away matches to start the season.
