Liverpool vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction

Match Preview:

Jurgen Klopp has broken many records as manager of Liverpool, most have been positive as he has turned the clock back and made the Reds one of the most fearsome teams in Europe again. However Klopp broke another record in midweek as Liverpool lost their 5th consecutive home game, it is something that the club in their 139 year history have never done.

So far the year 2021 has been horrendous for Liverpool, a total collapse that saw their chances of winning back to back leagues wiped out and now the club are in danger of missing out on a top 4 place. The latest defeat came against Chelsea with that game finishing 1-0 and though Liverpool pressed in the latter stages of the game, by the hour mark they still had no shots on target, this from a home team and the current champions simply seems odd, no matter how good Chelsea currently are.

So Liverpool come into this game in 7th place with 43 points with just 1 win in their past five games and are four points from a Champions League place with teams in front and surrounding them from all angles. Despite their beyond poor recent home record, it's still the 4th best in the league with seven wins so far. Also three of their five recent defeats have ended just 1-0.

The last time Fulham visited Merseyside they came away all cheers as they played a very good game and beat Everton 2-0. It was a surprise result by all accounts and one wonders if this could be another? Fulham have battled well overall as they attempt to stay up and are just 3 points from survival. However the club lost in midweek at home in a narrow 1-0 defeat against Tottenham.

On the road the Cottagers have won just two games but more encouragingly they are undefeated in their last five away games. Normally a team facing relegation would not accept a point but away to Liverpool you feel that manager Scott Parker would take that.

Team News:

Liverpool: Ozan Kabak has a knock and looks likely to miss this game. Nathaniel Phillips is due back for this game after his knock. Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Joseph Gomez are all out.

Fulham: Marek Rodak is expected to miss out as he has a hand injury.

Liverpool vs Fulham Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played here in 2018 Liverpool won 2-0.

Earlier in the season the clubs drew 1-1.

Fulham have not beaten Liverpool since 2012 and that game was at Anfield.

3 of the last four games has seen both teams to score.

Liverpool vs Fulham Prediction:

Despite their poor form at the moment Liverpool are still around 1.44 to win this game you can understand why, because of the quality they have, but perhaps 1.57 would have made more sense at least from a punters point of view. In short we have to question the value surrounding a team that, let’s face it, seem lost at sea. Of course Liverpool can win the game and should and their form has to turn around, and whilst we won’t question if they can win or not, this is a game where we can't just go for the straight win.

Therefore if we take the "-1 asian handicap" market, we can increase the odds to 1.70 with no extra risk compared to a straight win, it requires a 2 goal margin to win, but a loss only occurs if they draw or lose, just like with a standard win bet.

Mohamed Salah who has been off form is still the Premier League’s top goalscorer with 17 goals so far and one has to wonder if a player at home and against a team he has scored a few goals against can’t get on the score sheet at the weekend, so we will back him too.

Liverpool vs Fulham Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool) at 1.70

Anytime goalscorer: Mohamed Salah at 1.62
