England Premier League
Saturday 19th January 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
Liverpool will be the big favourites at home to Crystal Palace to get all three points and make another marker on their intent for the Premier League title.
The Reds have a 4 point lead over Manchester City as both teams recorded victories in the last round of games. Liverpool needed a Mohamad Salah penalty though to edge past Brighton 1-0 at The Amex stadium.
It was a huge win for Liverpool given that they had started off 2019 with a defeat to Manchester City and were then knocked out of the FA Cup against Wolves.
At Anfield the club remain unbeaten after 10 games with 9 wins and 1 draw and remarkably have only conceded 3 goals. They have scored 12 goals in their past 3 home matches.
Crystal Palace know how to shock the big teams of course and they showed this when beating Manchester City just before Christmas at The Etihad. They didn’t just win but also had the gall to score 3 goals. So was this just a one off or can Palace repeat the trick?
Since that win The Eagles have won just 1 more game in their next four and have lost to the likes of Chelsea and Watford and drawn against Cardiff. Palace have actually won more points on the road than at home and have won their last two away matches. They are four points clear of the bottom three and so could still be dragged down in the battle.
Team News:
Liverpool: Dejan Lovren will miss most of January with a hamstring injury. Georgino Wijnnaldum is a major doubt after picking up a knee injury. No update has been given on
Crystal Palace: Vincent Guaita has a calf injury and is a doubt but will be assessed ahead of the game. Wayne Hennessey has a knock but will be assessed. An update on Pape Souare who has a shoulder injury and could be out until March.
