Liverpool vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 11th July 2020
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Anfield

Match Preview:

Liverpool are champions of course and they eased past Brighton 3-1 in their last game. There are rumours that striker Mohamed Salah is after the top goalscorer award from Jamie Vardy and Liverpool will fancy their chances of sticking a few goals past Burnley.

Though Liverpool have actually been beaten twice this season they remain unbeaten at Anfield and it is a record the club will be proud of. Liverpool come into this game 23 points ahead of 2nd place and they are chasing the unique fact of trying to finish the season with the most Premier League points ever. They could still get 104 points if they win all of their remaining games.

Burnley are going to be looking at this game and the calibre of opponent and remembering what happened to them a few weeks ago when they faced Manchester City. There at the Etihad they lost 5-0.

Sean Dyche’s team are in good form and come into this game unbeaten in 4 matches. They were impressive in beating West Ham 1-0 away from home in their last match and have climbed to 10th place with 49 points. The club has a fantastic chance of playing in Europe once again.

Team News:

Liverpool: Dejan Lovren and Jordan henderson are both doubtful for this game.

Burnley: Ashley Barnes continues to be missed for Burnley.

Liverpool vs Burnley Head to Head:

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Liverpool beat Burnley 3-0.

Liverpool have won the last 4 meetings in a row.

Last season this fixture ended 4-2 to Liverpool.

Liverpool have scored 10 goals against Burnley in the last 3 meetings.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has scored 3 goals against Burnley in the past two games.

Liverpool vs Burnley Prediction:

Do Burnley have a chance here? The answer is almost no chance. But there has to be the motivation of pushing for a European place and also ruining Liverpool’s 100% record at Anfield. On terms of technical ability Liverpool are on a different level. They are playing in a professional but casual style which means that they won’t be afraid to give Burnley the ball and let them play.

This looks like being another Liverpool game where they ease to victory, but odds on both teams to score could be good value. Yes Liverpool are miles better as a team but at the end of the day we shouldn’t dismiss Burnley’s great form it will stand for something. Sean Dyche’s team have the 7th best away record in the league and from a possible points haul of 51 they have won 22 and won their last two away games in a row.

Liverpool vs Burnley Betting Tips:

Half Time: A draw at 2.75

Anytime goalscorer: Sadio Mane at 1.80

Both teams to score at 2.00
