Liverpool vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th October 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Anfield

Match Preview:

After 9 games of the new season Liverpool are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and they will be odds on favourites to make it to their 10th game at the weekend.

In midweek the Reds eased past Preston North End in the EFL Cup to reach the quarter finals and did so after changing the entire first 11 from their last league match. Liverpool are playing great football presently and that was underlined last weekend as they thrashed hapless Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford in a record breaking and historic victory that witnessed a hat trick from man of the moment Mohamed Salah. Life is good for Liverpool right now and they come into this game in 2nd place and only 1 point behind Chelsea.

At home though Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped points having drawn two of their four games so far, although those two draws were against Chelsea and Manchester City. It means that despite a great start the Reds only have the 6th best home record in the league.

Brighton have been brilliant this season and have really improved under Graham Potter’s guidance. However the club did come back to planet Earth last weekend as they were beaten 4-1 at home to the champions Manchester City, and the fixture list has fallen in such a way that they are unlucky now to face Liverpool.

There has been a lot of praise put on Brighton and most of it has been justified as the club come into this game in 5th place. However it has been four games since they tasted victory with defeat last weekend and three draws in a row previously. It means that Birghton’s last win came against Leicester almost six weeks ago.

Team News:

Liverpool: Fabinho could return for this game after his knee injury. Naby Keita is a doubt with his shin injury. James Milner is out for at least another 3 weeks due to his hamstring. Thiago Alcantara looks set to miss this game with his on going recovery from his calf and isn’t due back for at least another week.

Brighton: Dan Burn has suffered a knee injury though needs a scan as it may not be as serious as first thought. Steven Alzate and Danny Welbeck are out long term.

Liverpool vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season Brighton won this fixture 1-0, that was the first time that Brighton had beaten Liverpool since 1984.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

3 of the last four meetings have seen both teams to score.

Liverpool vs Brighton Prediction:

Everyone knows of the big shock last season which seen Brighton win at Anfield but for 2 months last season Liverpool infamously imploded and found it very difficult to win games. We shouldn’t see a repeat performance not with how Liverpool are playing currently and they could score a few goals at the weekend.

Liverpool will take heart in the fact that Manchester City scored 4 goals against Brighton and that was away from home against a team who up until then had only lost once. Still what should be noted is that Brighton are unbeaten away from home so far, so something has to give.

The home side are huge odds on to win but we could see them winning well and the negative handicap on them seems to be the way to go here in order to get some value out of the game. Mohamed Salah is on fire too, so this is also about following the form. We don’t expect to see anything else here than a comfortable home victory as Liverpool try to put more pressure on Chelsea.

Liverpool vs Brighton Betting Tips:

Handicap: Liverpool to beat Brighton with a -1 goal start at 1.66

First goalscorer: Mohamed Salah at 3.50

Correct Score: Liverpool to win 2-0 or 3-0 at 7.00 and 8.00
