England Premier League
Wednesday 3rd February 2021
Kick off at 8:15pm GMT
Venue: Anfield
Match Preview:
The last team to come to Anfield whose name began with a B caused a major upset and Liverpool will surely not allow that to happen again. Of course that was Burnley who beat the Reds 1-0 a few weeks ago. A few weeks is a long time in football though and it appears that Liverpool did indeed go on a poor run that nobody was expecting, but after the past week, it was a blip and Liverpool look back.
Liverpool proved that by beating both Tottenham and West Ham away from home in a matter of a few days and both by the same score line of 3-1. At the weekend Mohamed Salah looked back to his best scoring two wonderful goals, his 2nd you could watch all day without getting bored and once strikers start scoring goals again the floodgates can open. In short Liverpool are ready to challenge for the league title again.
It is interesting to note that after this game Liverpool will be facing the league leaders Manchester City in a huge game and so this is a must win for the current champions to keep pace in the league.
Brighton are in good form and have gone their last 3 games undefeated. The club are in 17th which feels too close for comfort but because of their form they have a seven point safety gap. Last weekend Brighton recorded a great win over Tottenham, it was only 1-0 of course but they played a really good game and bossed a better team in truth off the pitch. This will give Brighton a lot of confidence coming into this difficult task and they will realise they are the big underdogs to get anything from the game but at the same time they will come here with no fear.
Team News:
Liverpool: Sadio Mane has a minor muscle injury but should be fine to play. Fabinho will be assessed for this game but could miss out.
Brighton: Joel Veltman has a muscle issue but will be assessed. Danny Welbeck is 50/50 but could be back fully by the weekend. Alexis Mac Allister has a minor glute injury and will face a test before the game.
Liverpool vs Brighton Head to Head:
Last season Liverpool won this game 2-1.
The last 3 league meetings has seen both teams to score.
There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Liverpool vs Brighton Prediction:
Liverpool are around 1.40 to win the game, that feels generous as they should be closer to 1.20. Liverpool won’t make the same mistakes they did against Burnley and that game simply came in the middle of the team running through perhaps their only bad patch of form in the last 2 years. It’s as if it was needed to shrug off any lethargy and doubt and the club look back to their slick best.
Brighton are a good side on their day despite their position but they could be shipping a few goals in this match. The front three of Liverpool seem to have their mojo back and the team look unstoppable again, in this moment anyway. For better value we will use a -1 asian handicap to increase the odds with no extra risk.
Liverpool vs Brighton Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Liverpool) at 1.625
Anytime goalscorer (Mohamed Salah) at 1.60
