Leicester vs Wolves: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 22nd April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Leicester against Wolves may not evoke a huge footballing spectacle but it will be just that when these two teams clash on Saturday. There is much to play for and the end result could reveal more to us about who will be relegated come the end of the season.

For Leicester time is running out and the 2016 Premier League champions have a real chance of going down. However one win could change that if Everton were to lose against Crystal Palace. The Foxes are in 19th place with 25 points and form has been poor having lost their last four. They have had some games where you would think they could win although they can be forgiven for losing their last match 3-1 away to Manchester City. At home the Foxes have the second to worst away record with 9 defeats from 15 played and this is where they are really stumbling having lost their last four here too. It’s been over 2 months since Leicester recorded a home victory.

Wolves are in a more comfortable position in 13th place and have 34 points and recent form has moved the club 7 points from the bottom three and they will now be heavily tipped to avoid the drop. Julen Lopetegui’s side have gone their last 3 games unbeaten with a draw against Nottingham Forest and then two crucial back to back victories against Chelsea and Brentford. On the road Wolves have blown hot and cold and even when their form has turned a corner they can still be suspect on the road but can also be unpredictable. They have no wins away from home since beating Southampton five weeks ago and it’s just 1 point won from their last 9 on offer.

Team News:

Leicester: Harvey Barnes has a chance to return after recovering from his hamstring injury. Ryan Bertrand could be assessed due to fitness issues. Jonny Evans is ill and is a doubt and Ricardo Pereira misses out due to his hamstring.

Wolves: Diego Costa will be assessed due to a knock but has a chance of playing, he is the only concern for the club.

Leicester vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season Leicester won this meeting 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Leicester won 4-0.

Wolves have not won at Leicester in 16 years.

5 of the last 7 meetings have seen under 1.5 goals, however the last two meetings have been over 2.5 goals.

Leicester vs Wolves Prediction:

Fortunes have changed for both sides since earlier in the season when Leicester romped home to a 4-0 win and we expect Wolves to give a good game. Wolves have found some form and yet if they were to lose this game one would feel that it wouldn’t be the end of the world for the club, however they will realise that they will need at least one more win from the seven games remaining. For now Wolves will not be looked at as a club who is in danger of going down.

Leicester need to pick up wins and despite poor form there has been signs that the club can play good football. They have really been missing Jamie Vardy’s goals so far and it is quite stunning that he has only scored one in this campaign. Leicester have a very good record at home to Wolves and this match will be one of many cup finals for them but we will back them to get the job done. Let’s also go againts form completely and back Vardy to get on the score sheet. This will have to be a game where the Foxes stay focused and there is a recent history of few goals in this fixture and that could well be the case at the weekend.

Leicester vs Wolves Betting Tips:

Leicester to beat Wolves at 2.25

Anytime goalscorer: Jamie Vardy at 2.90
