England Premier League
Saturday 14th August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium
Match Preview:
Leicester have really consolidated their standing as a Premier League team who expect to finish in the top 5. They were unlucky again not to make the Champions League and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for another solid season from the FA Cup holders.
The Foxes got the season off to a fantastic start by beating Manchester City in the Community Shield, sure City were under strength but it was still a very good win and would have given the team lots of confidence coming into this opening game. Leicester also beat Europa League winners Villarreal 3-2 in a friendly.
Wolves have had to deal with changes which has seen Nuno Espirito Santo leave his managerial position. Wolves are sticking with the Portuguese connection though and have hired Bruno Lage who has previously been in charge of Benfica.
Wolves lost their last friendly game against Celta Vigo 1-0 and that was at home. Their five buys so far over the summer are all either defenders or goal keepers so that tells us they feel happy with the rest of the team. One eye catching deal could be Yerson Mosquera who comes from Atletico Nacional and the defender is just 20.
Team News:
Leicester: Timothy Castagne has a lack of match fitness and he will face a very late test to see if he can play in this game. Wesley Fofana is out with a leg injury for an extended period of time. Justin James could miss the rest of the year with a knee injury.
Wolves: Wily Boly will be assessed with a hamstring injury but could miss out. Yerson Mosquera has a hamstring injury and is only 50/50 to return. Pedro Neto is out long term with a knee injury, Daniel Podence has a groin injury and is touch and go.
Leicester vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season Leicester won this meeting 1-0.
Their last game ended 0-0.
The last 4 games in a row have all ended in under 1.5 goals.
Leicester vs Wolves Prediction:
We have two quality sides who on their day can cause any club in the league trouble. There has been upheaval though for them both, with Santo going and Wolves maybe being in the unknown until they can find their feet and the system that Lege wants to play. Wolves also have some key injuries which could unbalance the squad though they will be very happy to have Raul Jimenez back from his horrific head injury.
Leicester should be the favourites and Jamie Vardy will be raring to go and against what looks like a weakened Wolves team we will go for the home win and it could be by a few goals if they get their groove going.
Leicester vs Wolves Betting Tips:
Leicester to beat Wolves at 1.66
Anytime goalscorer: Jamie Vardy at 1.91
