Leicester vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Thursday 16th December 2021
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Has Leicester's form improved coming into this game? It does look so and the Foxes have won their last two now. At the weekend they were at their brilliant best as they demolished Newcastle in a one sided game that finished 4-0. Interestingly Jamie Vardy did not get on the score sheet but that wouldn't have mattered to manager Brendan Rodgers one bit. The Foxes have moved up to 8th place and even though their opponents are better quality than Newcastle, Leicester will fancy their chances here.

At home Leicester have won 3 of their last five games and victory here would mean they would join Tottenham on the same points although because of inferior goal difference they wouldn't be able to surpass them. Tottenham will be one of Leicester's rivals for a European spot this season and it should be noted that the Londoners have played 2 games less than their opponents.

Tottenham have been struck down by Covid-19 and have lost quite a few players. In truth there is a doubt if this game will even take place although presently it is. Tottenham have reacted well under their new Italian manager Antonio Conte but again with the recent illnesses it must have destabilised the team to a point and one could presume that they won't come into this game fully focused.

Tottenham's last game was at home and ended in an easy 3-0 victory over Norwich and before then they beat Brentford 2-0, this game of course will be a step up for Conte's team. Away from home it hasn't been as easy going for the club who have lost 50% of their games and recent away form is not good with just 1 victory from their last 5 games.

Team News:

Leicester: Kelechi Iheanacho has Covid-19 and is almost certain to miss this game, it is the same case for Hamza Choudhury, Ayoze Perez, Jannik Vestergaard and Ademola Lookman. Justin James and Wesley Fofana have on going injuries and are ruled out too.

Tottenham: Emerson Royal, Bryan Gil are ruled out with Covid-19. Sergio Reguilon has a muscle injury and will be assessed.

Leicester vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Last season this fixture enjoyed a six goal thriller as Tottenham beat Leicester 4-2.

Tottenham have won 5 from the past seven fixtures the teams have played.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Leicester vs Tottenham Prediction:

There has been a lot of talk of how Covid-19 has affected Tottenham's games and preparation coming into this fixture but in fairness Leicester are being hit too by this dreadful virus. As form goes this is a fixture where both teams can beat each other and there is no real pattern to be had.

This is a game and just the way in which we come into it we could protentially see a draw. It would suit Tottenham to take a point away to a rival. However Leicester will have to open themselves up as they need a win to keep with the European chasing pack, but could this play into Tottenham's hands? Harry Kane has a decent record scoring against Leicester and while he has had a season to forget so far we will back him to hopefully come good in midweek and he is a decent price to score too.
