Leicester vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Thursday 16th July 2020
Kick off at 6pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

As every week goes by Leicester’s dream of playing in the Champions League next season evaporates. They have seen Chelsea sprint past them and Manchester United are all over the Foxes. Simply put Leicester need to chalk up wins and one would think playing at home to Sheffield United could be the perfect tonic that they need, if only it was that easy playing Sheffield Utd though, just ask Chelsea.

Leicester have been questionable at times away from home but at the King Power Stadium they have the 5th best home record in the league. They have lost just 3 times here and won 10 games from 17. With 33 goals scored they have the 4th best scoring rate for a home side in the Premier League. Recent form at home is good too where they have gone their last 3 games unbeaten.

Sheffield United continue to move in the right direction, even if they have had some setbacks by the bigger clubs they are not a team that will go down without a fight. This has already been proven by the way they restarted the campaign slowly but got into their groove well with wins over the likes of Tottenham, Wolves, and Chelsea, they were huge victories for the club and if they were not to reach Europe after the season that they have had this would feel like a crushing blow to the club.

Still 45% of their points have come away from home, the problem is that their recent form has suffered and they have not won on the road for their last 4 games. In fact you’d have to go back to when they beat Crystal Palace in February for a win.

Team News:

Leicester: Maddison, Chilwell, and Albrighton are all doubtful for Leicester.

Sheffield United: John Fleck has a chance of returning for this match.

Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:

Earlier in the season Leicester won 2-1.

The last time the clubs met at King Power Stadium was in 2018 in the FA Cup which Leicester won 1-0.

Leicester have won the last 4 meetings in a row.

Sheffield United have not beaten Leicester since 2008.

5 from the last 9 fixtures have seen over 2.5 goals.

Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

Leicester have been really solid and stable at home and we feel they are the more likely of the two to win the match, but the draw also looks a strong possibility. Jamie Vardy is scoring goals again and he has back up too. The Foxes just look very comfortable at the King Power but Sheffield Utd just can't be ruled out.

We think the value is with the goals market, 2 or more goals should be acheivable, and we can also see both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:

Goal line (Over 2) at 1.60

Both teams to score at 1.95
